| Hey guys?
Is irc.amigaworld.net still up?
I've not been able to connect for the last 2 days, I've tried numerous times. Wookiechat just shows "[Connect] Attempting to connect to irc.amigaworld.net (6667)" waits around 20 seconds then says "[Connect] Unable to connect".
I'm connecting to two other IRC servers fine through it, but not been able to get on Amigaworld for couple of days. |

Working here, I use NO.AmigaWorld.Net with port 1024.
Some had problems with the server character set configured, you could play with that if nothing else works. Last edited by sundown on 26-Mar-2010 at 09:23 PM.

Try chat.amigaworld.net instead. It works here. |

| Who cares anyways.. It is moderated all the time now and seems like voice is only for the people that the ops like. |

We had a trouble maker on the network a few weeks ago, so we've left the channel on moderated mode, and we're asking people to register their nicks, then get an op to add you to the auto voice list. Once this is done you will get voice automatically when you sign in. I voice people manually that I recognise. If i left you out at some point, it wasn't because I dislike you or anything personal at all. |

| @jahc Might be a good idea to put it in topic or have some sort of welcome message. There was no topic or anything about it when i joined the channel last time. |

Based on Sibbi's recommendation below use:
de.amigaworld.net

There is something wrong with the IRC services on NO.AmigaWorld.net (the Polarboing server) which is causing a split in the AmigaWorld IRC Network. Since the services (ChatServ, NickServ and the various channel bots) are connected to NO directly, that also means that there are no services available at the moment.
SE.AmigaWorld.net is also connected to NO directly, so there are now two AmigaWorld IRC network Islands, the DE Island with the AmigaWorld main server (de.amigaworld.net), and the SE Island with the users on SE.AmigaWorld.Net
SE2 which was decommissioned some time ago was made to point to DE, which is the AmigaWorld main server, so it does in fact work, so does de.amigaworld.net, irc.amigaworld.net is a round-robin of all the servers available, so it's the luck of the draw which controls which server you get if you use it, at the moment it's better to use de.amigaworld.net directly.
On the webchat you should pick the Germany server (the AmigaWorld main server)
Hopefully Nicomen will discover the problem soon and rectify it. We apology for the outage. _________________ --- Sibbi

Just a reminder, since the news thread about the server change is no longer on the front page.
Changes to the AmigaWorld.NET IRC Network
Use DE.amigaworld.net port 6667 or SE.amigaworld.net port 6667 for the time being until we get an update about the NO.amigaworld.net server.

I've re-registered twice now and have never received a verifying email. Makes it very hard to register a channel... :-/

Odd, worked flawlessly for me, via DE-server. The email came within 30 seconds.

Try port 5555.
There was a message in the IRC window that stated that will be the new port number. I can connect with that port. |

I've noticed some posts from people that can't find our irc channels anymore, so here's another update:
Quote:
| Use DE.amigaworld.net port 6667 or SE.amigaworld.net port 6667 for the time being until we get an update about the NO.amigaworld.net server. |
I just tried no.amigaworld.net and it seems connected through port 6667 now, so you have at least the following choices:
Server: DE.amigaworld.net Port: 6667
Server: SE.amigaworld.net Port: 6667
Server: NO.amigaworld.net Port: 6667
@Sibbi
Feel free to correct or add any recommendations.

You can just use irc.amigaworld.net, all the servers have migrated
DE has an additional 5555 and 1024 port for people that have firewalls blocking 6667, that may vary between the servers. _________________ --- Sibbi

How many channels can you connect to at one time? It appears that if you try to connect with 10 or more you get an 'excessive flood' error message.
