| Guys you are getting too complicated. He said he was a new user. You don't need to edit text files or learn the insides of TCP/IP to do this. And why do people think that Wizard is bad? I've used it plenty of times with no problem for standard DHCP stuff.
Manual IP? Yes it's broken. Couldn't get that to work at all in OS4..
@WeiXing3D
I suggest clearing out all the net interfaces and starting afresh. But before you do that open Prefs/Internet as you have done so. On the list on the left click "Routes." Delete everything there including the Default Gateway. That will remove the route error. And you can Save it.
However if you still get trouble use the same program which should open up in the Interfaces section. And delete all the interfaces listed. Save.
You should now be able to use the Internet/New Connection Wizard to setup a new connection.
Perhaps the best solution is to install a fresh copy of AmigaOS4.1. But then you have to update it. People leave a lot of baggage on their machines. Internet baggage is most popular! Last edited by Hypex on 25-Jul-2012 at 03:38 PM. Last edited by Hypex on 25-Jul-2012 at 03:38 PM.

Actually, my problem is not connecting to the Internet anymore, since with some labour and patience I can do that by creating a new connection everytime I boot up. My main problems are:
1. Error messages generated during boot up, since the system cannot establish an Internet connection by default 2. Not being able to save the settings I'm using now with this connection (Home). Home was created through Prefs:Internet and creating a new interface.
Then again, as a calrification, even today 48 hours after receiving my system, I have NOT touched or modify any settings other than creating a new Internet connection as described above.
I'm still waiting for some help to solve about issues, please. Last edited by WeiXing3D on 25-Jul-2012 at 04:17 PM.

Your problem may be that the Gateway address saved in the settings is the one from the previous owner. If you get the right address from when you connect with your new connection you may be able to solve the problem of creating a new connection each time. So my advise if your are interested is to get that information and add it to your connection preferences.

I do know my Gateway connection settings, but where do I put them? Remember, I used the Try Dynamic configuration option before and it's working, not saving the settings apparently, but working.

Open the Prefs drawer of your Workbench Partition Then double click the Internet Icon. The Internet prefs program pops up. Select routes

| @Hypex I followed your recommendation and it seems to be working OK.
I did notice though that the Gateway Address in Routes was the correct one for me, but I deleted it anyways; same with the existing interfaces. So I created a new "Home" interface or connection which hasn't generated any errormessages so far.
I will keep checking and reporte later. Thanks _________________ Amiga 1200 fully loaded. AmigaONE X5000 w/AmigaOS 4.1 FE / MorphOS 3.9 in Mac Mini G4 1.5GHz. Acer Aspire One with AROS Icaros FPGA Replay and MiST |

Glad you got it working okay. See how it was simple enough to work out and yet got out of control. Gee some us must know too much. |
