Like for example to comment out all usb and to install the classic gui. Also to do maybe a light install and to add later the extra's. Z

You only need to disable UHCI and EHCI. An OHCI controller will work fine at 1.1 speeds.

Not ideal, but better than nothing.

When I was thinking of buying an SE myself it was made very clear by Eyetech that these were limited developer machines not for end users. As a result of the warnings, I waited for the XE board and I'm glad I did. Perhaps your buddies didn't get the same memo?

I DEFINATLEY didn't - They did try and get me to upgrade to an G3XE as this 'would have the fixed Articia S on' but it was NEVER described as a limited developer machine. I stuck with the SE as I was on a budget then.

Also if this was not a machine intended for end users why were there 3 choices on the initial order forms? G3SE, G3XE and G4XE?

Anyway I still have it, running 4.1.6, just needed to comment out uhci.usbhcd and ehci.usbhcd in the kicklayout to make it stable.

Not that it gets much use now with an X1000 sat next to it...

Regards
Darren

There was only one version, the developer board, right?

Well, i would say yes and no.

The latest boards had the green wires, so i suppose these where debugged?

Or did all the boards had these green wires?

Even on the XE G4 the Aritcia isnt fixed. Even with the "April" patch that GEnesi made for Articia doesnt fully fix it. So yet another bs thing.
