@dauber

Here we go again. Dont know how many times i will
write about the same thing.

even if there is a camd.library on the work
there is already a replacement for the camd.library
(needed for MOS and AOS4 and amithlon) that works
on amigaone and others.

What is needed ? a soundcard with the chip emu10kx.
So a soundblaster live or soundblaster audigy1/2 would be
good. It has a gameport where you can attach a midiconnector
(just a gameportcable with 2 midiconnections) that you buy in
a pc store.

There is no "emu10kx" midi driver in the os4 ahi package
so youl have to download the 68k archive and put the
"emu10kx" in devs:midi/ (would be nice with a os4native:)

Here you find link to the camd.library.
It works with hdrec and hdrec is made to work better with os4
too. I havent tested yeat with os4update2 but with the
pre versions it worked so i believe this will work too.

And i believe other programs that uses the camd.library will
work. But i havent tested others.

I hope this helps.

EDIT: PlayMF out of the CAMD_ToolKit would be a candidate?

Sounds like a candidate to me, that's half the battle.
Now we need someone to write an AHI CAMD node, for those who want to use
internal soundcard voices instead of external hardware.PlayMF is based on
GMPlay, which is apparently not AHI. According to the docs I just read, it hits
Paula directly.
If we could get that written, it would allow Amiga users to take full advantage
of their soundcard for MIDI programs, instead of requiring external synthesizers.

on a completely different subject:

...

There is certainly a future for the AmigaOne in the music studio. I'll see to that
personally if need be.

Thanks for this info, Lyle. I can now cross GMPlay off my list of software to try on OS4.1

@Valiant

Wow, an eight year old thread where I said
"There is certainly a future for the AmigaOne in the music studio. I'll see to that
personally if need be."

And now, eight years later.. any progress?

CAMD is native OS4, USB MIDI support is in place, BarsnPipes is comletely free and about to be updated again, and a pre-beta of Score will be shown this weekend.
I do need to do more with SoftSyn, but it has a good start, at least!

:)

Thanks for all the work you've done to bring MIDI to life on OS4.1. Can't wait to see Score in action, will maybe even make a pre-donation. And SoftSyn works great on the X now that we have sound.
