I ordered OS 4.1

Just a few minutes ago I ordered my copy of OS 4.1. Until this very evening I thought that we, translators, were entitled to a free copy and I still hold on to this opinion. But despite several promises I did not receive anything at all. So I ordered one myself.

And yes, I am a bit disappointed. But I am very willing to step over this and forget about it. I am going to sleep now and tomorrow brings another day and within a few more days Iĺl be running OS 4.1 and that is what really counts. By tomorrow morning all hard feelings will certainly be gone.

To Hyperion et al: happy new year!

@Johan

Did you ever write a mail about that? Because I didn't see one.

Welcome BETA tester.....

Only advice is to install the SDK and lots of other software known to work.

After doing all those installs and updates, the system starts to behave.

Lots of other settings and removing third-party screen savers are discussed elsewhere.

Hence why www.intuitionbase.com needs a good update...

If you want help, you'll need to provide much more information then that.

What hardware are you running it on? Did it work fine when you first installed it? Have you tried a fresh install? What programs did you install or what changes did you make before the lockups started happening? Did you make any changes to the hardware? Knowing these things will help isolate the problem, and improve the OS.

Hans

EDIT: Ok, your sig says that you have an A1-XE G3. I'm guessing that you did something to screw up your whole system. It would be nice to know what you did. Or did your CPU fan die and it takes 1 minute for the thing to overheat?

That shouldn't be necessary in order to get a stable system. Which programs need the SDK to be installed in order to work properly? Which programs are you referring to when you say "lots of other software known to work?"

Sorry, but this is utterly BS!

OS4.1 is rock stable right from the start (i.e. a fresh install) on more than 100 A1s and SAMs of the beta tester and developers.

I admit that some components may misbehave a bit, but for sure none of them makes the system unusable or unstable like you indicate with you various posts (which looks to me more and more like simple troll-posts).

Nevertheless in far more than 95% of cases, the problems with OS4.1 are caused by some broken 3rd party software, broken hardware or just simply mistakes done by the user. This is shown by all the reports about an unusable system which had one of the above reasons.

I do *not* claim that OS4.1 doesn't have any problems left, but i just can't stand it if some funny guys like you claim that the system would be totally unusable until you do some obscure installations and whatnot, which just spurns the hard work of a lot of people (including mine).

So, until you change your posts from simple troll-posts towards good and reproducable bugreports, i'm sorry to say that i'll have to consider you just as yet another troll and ignore your posts in future.

Oh btw: Nevertheless i agree that it is a shame that nobody seems to have time for intuitionbase.. was a good site.

@DiscreetFX

well done discreet man. You know, I am still awaiting for my Image FX 4.5 Studio from your Novadesign friend. Does it normally take over two weeks to be delivered to Australia??

Also, been looking into the Imagine 6, and, As I have t, i is not flawless. I would prefer to be able to use it more frequently.

I am also wondering if your special deal for the Blustreak email still exisits for me??

Another question, what version of Aladdin are you selling, and why is it sohard to find it on your site??

Are you guys planning on updating aladdin 4d, perhaps o add raytracing?

Can you tell me some limitations of aladdin 4d, or what the max is that I can do(perhaps give me a link)

Thank you

(I am eagerly awaiting HOLLYWOOD 4)

@Cyborg and @TROLL

Man I HATE Troll people, who do not try and work out why something is not working, and simply blame an OS straight away. It could be the way he installed it.

I utterly agree with you though, as I am a BRAND NEW USER, and when I first got my sam440ep with OS4.1 pre installed, it was not so bad to use. The only thing that initially shet me(lack of knowledge here also)was that It would be tempromental with the drag and dropping, and things like this.

HOWEVER, to the TROLL, if you are READING, i simply turned OFF, yes that is right, OFF the 3D Compositing engine in the GUI prefs, and then everything on my OS4.1 the simple things that were not always working, ALWAYS work from there on in. I did that the first week into this OS.

HENCE, I am with Cyborg 100% on this one, and the Last AMIGA OS I used was 1.3, and had stopped using it at the age of 15.I had started AMIGA as my first computer, due to my farther, and I Dare say, I used it for homework right up until 1995.A1000 Amiga.

So please keep yourself in control, and do not baggage this LOVELY Operating System. If it really were so BAD as you say, then I would not be able to use it in replacement of that XP SHET BOX that I had.

I can completely in CONFIDENCE say, that I have not ever looked back, and have been happily using my sam440ep with OS4.1 as my everyday DAILY system, for my EVERYDAY needs.

And no, it doesnt crash or freeze when doing general things. What does happen though, is that it gives me DSI or ISI or the like, for SOFTWARE that was not even MEANT to run with OS4.1

Again, CYBORG, you are a ledgend, while the TROLL must be a CRY BABY.

Du kannst ja mir vielleicht deine E-Post addresse geben, und dann konnte ich auf SabreMSN deine Hilfe und wissenschaft bekommen. Das werde sehr nett vn dir sein.

Cheers people.
