| I'm not sure what SDL-1.2.13-SVNr49 is, but its on the list, so I'm gonna install it.
AmiUpdate downloads the file "SDL-1.2.13-SVNr49-shared.lha", and states "AutoInstall script detected, preparing to execute..."
Then I get a requester named CopyStore, announcing that "An error occured with the source directory: SDL-1.2.13-SVNr49 - Object not found. Copying has been aborted".
So what do I do to get this thing installed? |

| Oh nevermind, I got sidetracked by the "AutoInstall script detected" and assumed something was supposed to be installed automatically. Files moved manually and all seems to work fine.
AmiUpdate may be handy but has some way to go when it comes to user friendliness.

this indicates a error in the autoinstall script. it needs to be fixed by the author of the sofware you installed.
amiupdate gave an exact and correct description of the error, what's not user freindly about that?
methinks you are shooting the messenger, when you should be complaining to the software authors.

Yeah, perhaps. But isn't AmiUpdate the official, integrated update service? If so, I would expect anything that comes through AmiUpdate to be tested and verified by OS4 personell. If not, there is nothing stopping some disgruntled app maker from letting his final update be an HDD erasing virus. Or? |

Not quite. AmiUpdate has been arround for longer than it's inclusion with Update6 - The public server allows regisered 3rd party developers to provide an update service to their apps, but these updates are only tested by the 3rd party authots and theier users. These updates are found on the amiupdate server at www.amiupdate.net
The OS updates found at update.amigaos.net are the official ones and these are indeed fully tested by the AmigaOS beta testing team.

Well maybe but it's just as likely for that to happen at os4depot.

After all these months it's still not fixed? Ok, who is the author so I can have someone to shoot at? _________________ -- -=#Val#=- Valiant@Camelot

I disgree. It didn't say what object wasn't found.
Does it mean the old SDL wasn't found or the new SDL is missing? |

No all the broken stuff is still broken. From my list that includes the Spell checker, Netsurf and Tunenet AAC.
I'm also annoyed AmiUpdate doen't check to see if the archive has been downloaded already. I looked at the settings but nothing changes. |

Nothing is stopping you guys from turning off auto-install. Just set a download path & hand install after. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

I like auto install. That's why I use AmiUpdate. And I have a download path set. Which AmiUpdate likes to overwrite with the same files. |
