Hi guys

I am releasing today my 1st [alpha] version of AmigaOS4 skins that can be downloaded from here:

https://rapidshare.com/files/3872271190/djnick-SkinPack01-alpha.zip

Well - I've included all files needed for skinning, its editable PSD files [for others to jump in, help and give me constructive feedback] - those files has to be copied to the place where it is shown in directory name.

I've included AmiDock theme [I guess system should automaticly choose my skins instead hand by hand loading images mode?]

Also I've included several good looking WinAMP skins that works and loads well on AmigAmp, just copy all skins to its directory [AmigaAmp/Skins/] and change it easily with right click on opened AmigaAmp.

What I would like to do is - asking you to betatest hand installation of this skin for you.

Also when I finish this 1st skin [which has light windows, like AmigaOS.net website], I am going to create Black Chrome style [with sharp gradient in the middle] - the style I like the most, and I think it would be the best.

I would ask for help in writing installation script that will:

- add SKINS: assign to each S:UserStartUpSequence file that will point to default AmigaOS skins including copied my skin [named djnick-Chrome directory]

- change all colours and GUI sizes I've changed here [some colors are still unlockable, and looks like I need more colours for palette... Filer looks invisible on some file listings [!?] and hard to read. I have no idea how to change this [yet], but I hope I will solve this soon.

- install my AmiTheme graphics [this is just test - if it works, I will include all graphics with its correct names and with extensions, so we all will know what is PNG and what is not]

- Install my background file and copy all other so ppl will easily change one of 6 [or 8] backgrounds I've included now.

Test it and let me know how it looks / works for you.

@realize

You also can download the file without an rapidshare account. There are three options to download. The Button in the middle is the right one for free download.

@djnick: Any screenshots?

Yes but it is alpha, would like to test it first. I have some strane "bugs" with colors - like some colors in palette aren`t locked and they are flying around. So Filer listers are having sometimes ok, but sometimes wrong colors when select files...

Also Filer has lots of bugs, it seems. Each time I click on SORT button [to sort by date, by file size etc] - it disables SORT tab and it looks strange. Damn...

About Rapidshare - I have no idea. I think that uploading works only if you register, but downloading is free [will have to wait countdown to start downloading].

@djnick

Thanks a lot for the alpha. It looks great.

Question about rounded corners: Is there a possibility to change radius?
Or is this an issue for Hyperion?

Thank you!

@Birbo

Thanks :) I am still not satisfied - still some pixels are in different colors... and some lines. Can't have full control of everything [or I do not understand well where it is].

I am not happy with possibility to have "USE" or "SAVE" without having "TEST" button first for skins. So everything I do I have to click USE to refresh and then see what I have done.

Other than that - I am in the creating of Booting sound... I was shocked to see how default boot samples are - they are ALL mono [!!??] and in low quality. So booting Amiga sounds really cheap.

In the next [beta] skin pack there will be also booting sound[s].

And at the end - is there possibility to change low quality booting picture [AmigaOS4.1]? Where it is located?

The player skin looks pretty good. Other than that i i think the rounded upper windows corners are what distinguish it from default. In mu opinion a little to big rounding radius.

hirasawa.wav is hardly low quality it's a 32bit WAV file, although it is mono. That's the only one that counts as boot sound, the other sounds in sys:prefs/presets are more for beeps or just test sounds. A1000.aiff for example is I believe the original test sound from the Amiga1000 (it's not an aiff is 8SVX misnamed).

@wawa

I wanted to create one square corner and other rounded corners - but don't know where to go or what to change. Would be nice to have "realtime preview" [as in Photoshop] ;) but I dream on.

I forgot to answer about round corners - well the problem is - I couldn`t find a way to round ALL corners - just top [left and right] side.

I will ask a question to Hyperion forum with concrete questions.

About 32bit sound - well it sounds very low quality. It could be 128bit but it is mono and - totally unprofessional [even I like theme, a little bit long but nice played].

You will hear what I will come up with. :>

Good start, the rounded corners are a bit too rounded imo though. But all to his own. ;)

Jack 3.2.3 is in the upload queue at OS4Depot. Finding the time at the moment to do any updates is proving difficult, but I added the ability to color the textual elements of the Calendar window as per your request. Just press RMB over an element to bring open the colorwheel. What do you think?

Ps everyone. Yes, I am aware the mouse pointer doesn't change to a cross-hair. Hidden bug somewhere.

Your Skin
-------------

After double-clicking the Presets icon it just complained saying cannot find AmigaOS: so I changed the Icon prefs to SYS: and tried again, just kept popping up asking for AmigaOS:

You need to change all references of AmigaOS: to SYS: in order for it to work globally on any system.
