Please email me (amigarulez@hotmail.com) your best MOS butterfly and I'll see what I can do.
@EVERYONE
I've taken some photos quickly (I've got to dash to work...)
The key set is at version 9, I'd like to make another set (version 10) and then stop. Anything you want added/removed? The one you see is mine (I've got Windows and Amiga symbols etched on the keypad).
This is the same keyboard that is going inside the X500 Evo. A full size, mechanical keyboard. The one shown has Blue Cherry MX switches.
I need to know how many people are interested in a standalone USB version so I can decide the price for it, as usual the more people we have the lower the price.
So please let me know and let me know the type of switch, at the moment I can get Blue, Red and Black switches (no Brown...out of stock).
I'd say a few days and then I'll order them so first come first served.
Thank you.

Looks great, I'd definitely be looking into getting one of these!
There are two things, in my mind, which I think spoil the look of the entire keyboard (apart from Control being in the wrong place which I guess is out of your hands) as it is:
1) The "Boing Ball" key sticks out like a sore thumb because it doesn't follow the style of the other keys. The other key graphics (Amiga 'A', arrows etc.) are all situated in the top left of the key. The Boing Ball key should also follow this design, and be sized slightly smaller so it's in similar proportion to the rest of the graphical keys.
2) The calculator key icon is horrendous Surely there's something else that could go there? How about moving the speaker icons along one place, and putting the 'Help' key where the first speaker key is located now.
This would also tidy up the 'Help/End' key which also looks slightly out of place because of the position of the wording.
Other than that, flipping great _________________ This fire is burnin' and it's out of control It's not a problem you can stop, It's rock n' roll - GN'F'N'R |

Yep, ideally you'd use CTRL where Caps Lock is but then it's a mess.

So would you like the Boing Ball in the top left corner and smaller? What do the others think? I can change it but making it smaller would mean that the laser might not reproduce it well, it might come out well weird...that is one of the reasons I designed it that size.

But I like to have a calculator key ...I make a lot of...calculations...
If we decide where to put the flipping Help key (at the moment is where End is) then all we have to do is put the Help key in place of the calculator key, it's just a matter of taking the cap off. I'll keep mine as calculator, unless somebody finds me a better looking calculator.
What do you think?

I'll change it in a paint program to see how it looks otherwise we'll keep it where it is...

You gonna make a US version? Will the keyboard casing be beige or is it only black? |

For USA and other non-ISO countries (ANSI countries) I'd prefer for you to buy the keyboard yourself, it'd be easier for everyone and I'll send you the full Amiga key caps set with your language layout.
Only black shell available.

So I just replace the keys then? I'm down with that. As long as it's not super expensive, put me down for a set. :) |

I think a set off keys might be best for me at the moment since I'm a bit skint right now and I suspect the full keyboard will only be available from you for a limited time. |

| I like there being a calculator key on it, too. I specifically sought out a new keyboard for my Windoze machine that had a calculator key on it because I use that feature so much. I don't have an Amiga machine to use your particular keyboard on, though, or I'd buy one.
As for changing the layout of the keyboard... I take it that rewriting the ROMs on the keyboard (in order to customize what keys where do what) isn't an option? I mean, this is a USB keyboard, right? Far as I understand it (though I might be wrong about this), those operate by sending a code sequence to the computer that amounts to "The key designated to represent the letter A has been pressed down. The key designated to represent the letter A has been released...." rather than "The key at position X by Y has been pressed down..."
As for Help key... I HAVE seen at least one PC keyboard that actually HAD a dedicated Help key on it, in that case it was a large, round "?" key, but it clearly was meant to be a Help key, and the impression I'd got when asking about such things was that keyboards like that actually had been set up with a code they sent to the computer that amounted to "The help key has been pressed down..." and used some sort of specially-made code sequence that Windows would know to recognize as the help key. Presumably that information (what code sequence for the keyboard to send for Help key) would be researchable, probably appearing in the same sorts of reference sites that list things like what the standardized keyboard code for the calculator key is, or the various sorts of multimedia and/or launch-a-program buttons are listed on. I mean, there are keyboards that have a button to launch a word processor, a button to launch the web browser, one to launch an email program, etc etc.
(Does a search online...) Hmmm..... here's a reference work to a lot of these internal keyboard codes: http://www.win.tue.nl/~aeb/linux/kbd/scancodes-6.html And it DOES have a dedicated Help key scancode listed.
---addendum: This is the first page of the reference the above link came from: http://www.win.tue.nl/~aeb/linux/kbd/scancodes-1.html
Here's another site giving scancodes, that includes various keyboards with a Help key on them: http://www.scs.stanford.edu/11wi-cs140/pintos/specs/kbd/scancodes-5.html of which the first page of the reference is here: http://www.scs.stanford.edu/11wi-cs140/pintos/specs/kbd/scancodes.html

I will only get ISO standard mechanical keyboards for the U.K. and European countries (the ones that use it), basically looking at the keyboards the USA have, from what I know, the ANSI standard (Enter key looks like the Shift key etc...).
So it would make sense to provide just the key caps set for ANSI users and they can get a compatible mechanical keyboard for the keys.
Key caps sets alone and complete mechanical keyboards will be available for anyone who is interested. Complete of localisation.
Just email me: amigarulez@hotmail.com

Add me to the list of USA members who are interested in buying a set of key caps.
Edit: Found your reply to my questions earlier in this thread. Yes, I am thinking of my X1000, but also would like to purchase two sets of key caps. One set in "All White" keys and the second set in "All Black" keys.
My Windows PC is going to be moved into the damaged Black X1000 case, and it would be nice to have the Black key caps & one of your mechanical USB keyboards for it when I am running AmiKit/WinUAE Amiga emulation. The White keys & USB keyboard would go well with my White X1000 running OS4.x. Last edited by amigadave on 03-May-2013 at 09:18 PM. Last edited by amigadave on 03-May-2013 at 09:17 PM.

I could and that would make it like a Mac keyvoard. On my X1000 I had to set some env var as it incorrectly read the keys wrong.
Or the keyboard sent the wrong codes.

Yes I saw that. Though I wonder what use it has on Amiga? AFAIK the "menu" key isn't useful in AmigaOS except for keyboards lacking Right Windows.
