There were no platform games when I was a kid.

| Depends on what you define "kid" as.
As an adolescent it'd be one of a few tandy coco games. Module Man, or CashMan probably, but I also enjoyed Donut Dilemma and Canyon Climber.
The nostalgia is strong recalling these games right now actually :)
Time Bandits,..... not a platform game, but sheesh did I play that game a lot. Very much a pre-gauntlet gauntlet style game, and vastly superior to the amiga remake some years later.
Couldnt find any Module Man Screenshots unfortunately, but....

my favourite 'platform' as a kid was a pinball machine right before my quarters got wasted on Space Invaders in the billiards

Rick Dangerous was the first game/application I saw on A500. Unforgettable.
We (me and my brother) later enjoyed titles like Gods, Chaos Engine or Lionheart.
Even before that, we played on C64 some platform game with dragon as end boss. Unfortunately I can´t remember name. |

The pull of nostalgia was too strong so I couldnt help but to do a quick port of latest XRoar (coco emulator) to AROS.
Cashman is still great fun, but ModuleMan either dated badly, or Ive forgotten how to play it properly. Donut Dilemma has unusual controls that dont play well with my AROS netbook keyboard (seriously, what the heck? Up + down together to "shoot" dough at the donuts is just weird). Canyon Climber is still fun, albeit pretty simple.
Time Bandit thus far is still as good as I remember, even if it's not a platform game :)
At this rate I'll be revisitting all my old favorite coco games, and missing a fair bit of sleep this weekend :) |

Hmmm... It was on C64, but I can't remember its name :) It was in some kind of sci-fi environment (I guess) with many conveyor belts etc....
And the other one was Bruce Lee. _________________ - The wiki based MorphOS Library - Your starting point for MorphOS - Software made by jPV^RNO |

The only platform game I had as a kid was technically called a see-saw (really an old plank and tin can) which I got bored with incredibly quickly and never really liked other computer based platform games either. _________________ OS4 Rocks X1000 beta tester, Sam440 Flex (733)

| For me is was Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. IMO the best 16 bit Sonic game.

| For my early childhood it would have to be the first game I ever played, Manic Miner for the good old ZX Spectrum. :)
I also have a very big soft spot for Bart Vs the Space Mutants and Captain Planet, simply because these were the first Amiga games I played when I got my A500+ Cartoon classics pack for Christmas one year, even now when I hear the music from either game can sometimes still give me goosebumps. :)
I suppose my ultimate all time favourite platform game was James Pond 2 for the CD32, I mostly preferred RPG's by this stage, but this game had me hooked all the way through. Last edited by Akiko on 24-Feb-2013 at 02:08 AM.
