Atarisoft had the liscense and it was transferred to the C64 (and many other formats) , the game was complete and ready to be released in 1985 (you can find the release on lemon i guess, and there excists orgignal boxed copies of the game too) which was then pulled back , a new team named Ocean Software reaqquired the liscense and developed and published in 1986, the gameplay is the same but there are various graphical and other differences (and developed by a different team).
note..this is how i remember it so i might be wrong but i used to be a huge collector of boxed material on the c64 for over 2 decades and then sold it and will regret that for the rest of my life... glad i still have my Amiga collection tho

Otherwise, I'm not even sure just what a "platform game" would be.

Chaos Engine seems to be a big topic today.

But from what I have read, it is essentially the Amiga game with a wrapper around it, some graphical enhancements (one being 16 way movements over the originals 8), and additional save points/checkpoints to dumb it down for today's gamers who can't deal with anything remotely difficult. _________________ Test sig (new) |

There has been a lot of press about this, recently posted today:

Well I have still put it on my steam wish list - can do a co-op with my brother if we both get it, and it is reasonably priced at around £6.
We completed the original Amiga version as a co-op team, so the new outing could be a trip down memory lane _________________ Test sig (new) |

| Donkey Kong was likely the first I ever knew, and the only one that impressed me. This was before I knew one bit about computers or "tv games". With computers, platformers didn't grasp my attention in the way some other stuff did. _________________ : AmigaOneXE (unmod.) 750FX/512 MB +stuff & AmigaOS 4.(0|1) : A1200/68060&96MB/SCSI/EM1200-Voodoo3 & OS 3.5 : A500/1MB : Pegasos (ff) 512 MB & MorphOS Praise seitan. |

The longer I live the more overrated I think Nintendo are. Yes, by all means buy a new 2DS for your 6 year old for Christmas but anyone who thinks Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Kart or Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time have never been bettered in their respective genres have been asleep for the past 15-25 years!
Super Frog was great fun as was Great Giana Sisters but I really like the look of Rayman Legends and would probably concede that just as Metal Slug was a better game than Robocop, things change and games are in many ways still getting better. Super Frog will always have a special place in my heart and I'll always dig the CD32 version out for a Lucozade hit every so often but Donkey Kong?! Jumping over barrels to get to a princess in a cage? Fun in it's day but hardly in the same league as Rainbow Islands or New Zealand Story!Last edited by BigD on 02-Sep-2013 at 10:26 PM.

Very much the past tense for DK. I didn't even play it more than a few times. _________________ : AmigaOneXE (unmod.) 750FX/512 MB +stuff & AmigaOS 4.(0|1) : A1200/68060&96MB/SCSI/EM1200-Voodoo3 & OS 3.5 : A500/1MB : Pegasos (ff) 512 MB & MorphOS Praise seitan. |

Fair enough. If that was your favourite platform game as a kid then that was your favourite platform game. 'Nuff said. _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |
