With UAE most demos should run, including 060 ones. May need tweaks to make them all run perfectly since different demos may rely differently on specific hardware timing that the emulator needs to provide.

There are a number of trackers that can work in 16-bit mode. Can't quite remember any names right now though. And of course AHI uses 16-bit stereo, or 32-bit 7.1 sound There are no 8-bit modes. UAE will emulate Paula by default and downmix the sound to 2-ch 16-bit for AHI to play natively, just like the real Classic Amigas downmix to 2-ch analog.

Older tracker typically won't work directly but would need UAE. There may be exceptions like maybe Octamed Soundstudio? Protracker won't work directly because it accesses classic hardware directly.

I think. The Cinemaware stuff at Hyperion was nice. I just like TAC-2 etc more than any keyboard stuff. Still I stick on the Classics A500 and different A1200 versions and disks.

JIT? My friend was doing some demos maybe 20 years ago and they really relied on the different chipsets. I asked Petro what's comming next and I put Him in a corner. Sorry.

Ï thought i was first in the XE-line. What a machine could be the X1000 with the programs. Count me in with the next gen! Many thousands spent in the hobby and WB 1.0-4.1;) Call me old;)

Congrats on your X1000. I love mine and use it every day. Love Amiupdate now, and use AmiCygnix all the time. You likely have already installed that "environment" for AbiWord and other nice Office type apps, but if you haven't I'd recommend it. Its like getting a second computer.

I just ordered a catweasel mk 2 with the X1000 adapters/cable and bought an internal Amiga drive off eBay. After I move to a new home I just bought I'm going to install that, remove the now unneeded sound card and start loading a lot of my old software and files.

Why did you buy an internal Amiga drive? The Catweasel is designed to work with off-the-shelf PC drives....

That said, I did add Amiga drive support and it did work this way last I checked on my Mk4+, and I don't see why it'll be any different. Just make sure that in your Catweasel prefs file, you set the disk to "Amiga DD" type, and that the drive is jumpered correctly for unit 0.

PM me if you have trouble with it and I'll see what I can do (as I'm the guy who maintains the Catweasel driver I can probably help more than most!)

E-UAE for OS4 lacks JIT currently so you may not get 060 speeds without slow down.

But if you want a good tracker, there are several Amiga trackers specifically for OS4, such as Hively Tracker or the brilliant Milky Tracker, there's even a port of Protracker for it.
