Good luck with getting the price lowered, but its bad etiquette in my opinion to offer someone something, have them agree, and then try to change the agreed amount simply because its taking longer than you want. It's only been a few months and more than half the money has been raised. Pretty good going I thought.

OS4 is made to be really picky by these kind of things, sadly its making users more frustrated than it should. Lots of this should have worked fine but since they do nasty stuff OS4 blocks them out.
MorphOS has always been better at Emulation 68k stuff so i guess thats why it works there (with minor patches).
as for your opinion about the ethics , i totally agree and thats what i said earlier in the thread too.
@kas1e
i do know how Sourceforge works, i have many projects there (that i have ported and created). As for Devs, yes there's quite a few, i know that but do they have the time and dedication for this?, not so sure :( As for having the sources, indeed thats a good point but then again thats not new as "we" had them from 2004-2009 but yes not open source so it doesnt really count other than that we had the chance and we had the bloody source.
I hope all goes well kas1e, i really do! and when the sources is aquired then i will open my wallet and help the project to start (no matter which OS version it is).

You dont have to convert 68k assembly to C since the operating systems can run 68k code._________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook |

DOpus5 patches the system in ways that broke 3.5 IIRC (new icon features like animation never worked becasue the code was patched out by DOpus.

I have never used Magellan but according to AmiKit page even using PNG icons is possible with it...

No, it is just certain dos.library related things. If Magellan was ported to PPC it would run on MorphOS but crash on OS4._________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook |

LOL
At least, have you consider implementing a restrictive rule on the about tab of your progs saying i.e.; I, Vlad, known as kas1e, porter of xxx app, forbid the usage of the aforementioned program from the following persons; [Enter List] OR else I curse your machines to get fried xD
AFAIK, a similar approach was proposed by someone from the Natami team towards Atheist on Moo, i.e. excluding him by listing him on the warranty of the system :P
If someone has the link from moo, please drop the line here :)_________________

true enough for a quick and dirty port but yes it would work as a "temporary" solution just to get it working and then start removing the uneeded hw banging code etc.
maybe i am overcomplicating the project but as i have said before.... i have been waiting 8 years for this "xxxxxxthing", if not more ;).

how would you know that? , is that because of the 68k version not working or is it because of known native reasons?
If it would crash is not a suprise though _________________ See my blog and collection website! . https://www.blog.amigaguru.com |

Because of the 68k version not working. Magellan relies on somewhat exact copy of original dos.library and filesystem operations. Nothing what one couldnt fix (in fact I dont remember where the problem was) but it was found out when testing dos.library changes on MorphOS.

LOL thanks, that's the one!
Let me quote the wise words of Richard Maudsley:
Quote:
Hell, it's even going to be in the warrantee, that if a natami is sold to you, it's automatically disqualified from any kind of support or repairs.

So kas1e, there you have the original plan :)_________________

thanks for the input, hopefully things like this can be either patched or totally cleaned out when and if the sources will come out, as for Amiga software being fragile, very true :(_________________ See my blog and collection website! . https://www.blog.amigaguru.com |

Now we are at 3333$. Olaf trying to contact with them to ask if they will be kindly enough to give us code for 3k , but if not, then we have "only" 2.267 left. Which are not that big summ as initiall 5600, so everyone who in interst (and only who in interest, not those ones who didn't), keep them coming. _________________ Join us to improve dopus5! zerohero's mirror of os4/os3 crosscompiler suites |
