| I do agree that a lot of emphasis should be put into building a great web browser that can support great web apps and then back track to building (or porting) great rich client apps for AmigaOS. |
I totally agree, OWB and Timberwolf are very good starts and I can nearly use online apps on them, but their can be little hick ups now and again, or not all features always work and spped is a bit of an issue. With the way the world is moving, more and more on to the cloud, I think a really good, speedy and native web browser is a must, and then like you say move on to porting or creating native apps. _________________ AmigaNG, YouTube, LeaveReality Studio |

That being said, what AmigaOS does need is a fast, reliable and HTML5/CSS3/Ecmascript-compliant web browser - perferably with low stack usage, a Reaction GUI, proper ReadArgs()-parsing and, of course, reliable garbage collection. |
You started the thread 2 years ago and there still isn't a good answer. And by saying AmigaOS I assume you mean OS4. _________________ Men who have girlies in their avatars are Girliemen! |

What is this obsession with the Cloud ? I would never put any data in the mythical cloud. It is TOTALLY insecure; you have NO protection. Certain rouge countries have access to ALL your files, if you are working on the next great thing, expect it to be stolen by some military/terrorist outfit and used in a way it was never intended.
You have been warned.......

I really don't think so. Cloud is more fashion thing right now and magic formula for some it experts but its not the future. At least not for me and people who want full control over their documents in this case...
Big companies like Google can't be trusted. Just check how many services Google canceled during last few months. It is really hard to rely on such companies.
And especially in Google case, it is nowhere written they won't lock Google Docs to Chrome and Android only in the future (yeah yeah it is crazy idea, but there are no guarantee at all). That's why i prefer open source and RMS' path.

They have cancelled support for those unpopular and tested services. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Google_products#Discontinued_products_and_services
However, its only small portion of their apps.
While Google Docs is surely to stay, and it is great that finally we have free office for all, at least basic one ... platform independent also, we should praise A-EON for funding OpenOffice port

| Libre Office Status Update Thomas Frieden, the developer porting Libre Office to AmigaOS 4, has also has made excellent progress. Although Libre Office is planned as a long term project, Thomas has already ported approximate 75% of the code. Once this process is finished the next stage is to build the first binarys. |

Your post has now been stolen and I will use it across the internet.
ok I admit maybe if you are working on the next big thing, or there is a lot of personal or secure information you need on a doc maybe the cloud is not the best idea, but for every thing else it can be pretty handy. _________________ AmigaNG, YouTube, LeaveReality Studio |
