Websites get hacked, it's part of the internet world. I don't rejoice at Hyperion getting hacked, but in perspective it's really not much more than the blink of an eye.

Except that this wasn't the case this time.

I agree, but those servers are heavy suckers and hard to carry.

Almost as heavy and hard as some grudges.........

Maybe you could edit the subject to make it clear that the servers were actually not hacked? Or maybe a moderator could do it? It's a bit misleading to keep seeing this topic in the list.

Best regards,

Niels

@nbache

Make that suggestion to a moderator through PM.

They've made it clear they don't read all the threads, but they would appreciate knowing things that might require action.

Good idea. Just did it.

Number 6 has made a good point. The mods to read all posts and all threads, so always feel free to PM one of us if you have an urgent request or suggestion.

Thanks.

So the server wasn't hacked but when it was down it had a message "fake off" interesting use of professionalism by Hyperion or their hosts!

Was the host, maybe a worker that was in a playfull mood? I don't know, but the message was a bit strange.

Quoting a post from nbache on amigans.net:
Quote:

I think it is just some fallback message from their gateway (or whichever) server when it can't redirect the requests to the box/program it is intended for.

I seem to recall having seen or heard of this message also on previous occasions - which were also "just" simple technical matters and not hacking.

Now the thread title looks pretty stupid...

I mean a title like "Hyperion Website (not) Hacked" makes it looks like folk are in the habit of starting threads just to tell us that a site has not been hacked today !!!

It's not as if people are in the habit of posting everyday a list of all the sites on the web that haven't been hacked...

If you'd read the thread before then you already knew that the site hadn't been hacked and if you hadn't read the thread you'd soon find out that it hadn't be hacked, so why the NEED to change the title...

Dunno... maybe it's just me but some folk seem to find drama in the simplest things in life like the title of a thread...

@Franko

It's one thing that you yourself refuse friendly advice that would help avoid confusion, but to actively MOCK people for being helpful?

Seriously.

Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean.

Moderators just did it, but in general sense of something "went wrong" or web site that wasnt accessible I would say they have got attacked or even hacked. Even it was a small redirection and not deface, bringing server down, ending result was similar.

So Frankos observation that now it looks like it never happened, is correct.

At time of name of thread being done, I could not know why, how or who did it.
Now we know maybe how. Why, we can guess ... (disliking slow progress, PR or overall direction of Hyperion)

@salass00

So 53 messages about a site NOT being hacked? That's even less news worthy..

What are you gibbering about !!!

What "friendly advice" have I "refused" ???

If you mean a thread I started recently and some people whined about the thread title being "misleading" (can't even recall what it was called now) but I did change it to keep the bewildered happy (despite the fact I thought that was pretty stupid and pointless too)... so pray tell... where and what is this "friendly advice" you claim I have "refused"...

No ones' "mocking" anyone (well at least I'm not)...

All I have done is as I have already said, is point out that to me, changing threads title like that is basically just stupid and serves no purpose and I stand by that opinion..

If you think that's "mocking" then really that's your problem not mine, I can't help it you read things that aren't there into what I say despite me telling you your wrong...

After all I write these words and I know what I mean when I am saying them. So yes your entitled to THINK what you want about my words but rest assured what you THINK and what i KNOW are two entirely different things and as long as I KNOW myself the context of my words then that's all that matters to me...
