The Y-flyers look like fun.
Yup, good fun. Just like Amigaland members, half the fun is the other sailors. They're built for intercostal and lake racing. I can't imagine putting one on the open ocean. But then lasers and snipes do ok and they're similar sizes.

The yacht is a hydrofoil stabilised canoe about 4.3m sq with a 5 m mast.
And home built too, almost sounds like a weapon on the water.

including through a front 30 - 40 knots, gusting much stronger for a while,
Got hit like that once in a Y-Flyer race too, maybe about 50-60 knots. The race armada wasn't prepared for it. Smashed 2 dozen boats, ran others aground on shore and sent a couple of people to the hospital with broken bones. We stayed upright by quickly dropping the main. We were screaming on a run, jib only, bow lifted, while trying to dodge other swamped and capsized boats. Scary day. I don't remeber going "yahoo!".

Do you have any bigger pictures? The avatar is too small to make out much detail.
