Amiga's OS5 is well underway, according to McEwen, who promised to serve up a press release before the end of 2007 offering details on Amiga's secret project. "Details for OS 5 will be made public in the fourth quarter of 2007, and then you will have a much clearer understanding and I will let you decide if what I know to be true is accurate," the executive said.

I've been on vacation the last couple of weeks but don't see anything on Amiga.com yet. Any word on this?

@fairlanefastback

If they do 'announce an announcement' then it should provide for comical reading over the holiday season.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, an AA2 announcement was supposed to be made within 30 days of the responses to the 21 questions as well.

Yawn... celebrating a decade of incompetence.

@fairlanefastback

Hell just froze over the other day when 3drealms released a promo clip for DNF so anything is possible.

@DonnieA2

OS5 includes a faster than light quantum chip emulator(they are working on a jit version of the emulation). They went back in time to let us know about the future. The announcement due this year will not be given until the OS is ready to run on the quantum chip without emulation, then they will go back in time again and post last week. There is a problem with the memory protection however and that is why the previous announcement was made so prematurely. They are working to correct this with out breaking compatibility with existing future software. Ask the Space Druid he understands these things you know.

I heard OS 5 runs on Quantum chips too. That is why it is delayed in fact. Not AIs fault after all.

Pethatic.....The whole Amiga Inc mess....

I dont expect anything to come from Amiga Inc anymore.

They clearly stated to (atleast) give more info on OS5 or whatever it is called, let alone they said AA2 was to be released in (what was it ?) november ?

Ah... humbug.....

@Beamish2040

Looks they are stuck in a perpetual maybe (caught somewhere in the qubit space between yes and no). Oh well they will get it sorted out and post last week later on. I hope they give us a glimpse of some of the future software apps already completed.
Where is the Space Druid when you need him?

@Beamish2040

Reminded me of these two comments about the dnf-teaser:
1 and 2, where 2 is a reply to 1.

Regarding DNF: http://blog.shacknews.com/blogarticle.x/50481
A couple of questions answered by George Broussard (3D realms chief).

@fairlanefastback

In my opinion, Bill McEwen was just trying to score some PR points. After all, they are in litigation against Hyperion over OS4, they got lots of bad press over the Kent city thing, etc.

They might still be able to rely on the excuse that they can't do anything else until the OS4 issue is resolved.

My personal opinion ... the OS5 stuff and hardware agreement are simply another part of Amiga Inc.'s magic act (window dressing for the court case). I will be very surprised to see a real OS running on real hardware.

I'll admit that there was a brief moment in the past when I did believe it could be possible if they got their act together. Then the OS4 contract was terminated.

I'd believe in the existence of a perpetual motion machine before believing in OS 5.

Even better, I believe it is the Will of God that Amiga OS 5 will come do deliver us from slavery.
