| With respect to fairlanefastback's request X1000 beta test news thread.
I found the following on the Amiga Forever page
At the end of 2009, in a settlement agreement between Amiga, Inc. (Delaware) and Hyperion Entertainment VOF, the following licensees were listed: Cloanto Italia srl, Haage & Partner Computer GmbH, Data Storage Advisors AG, eGames, Inc., On Broadband Networks, LLC, Envizions, Inc., and Ironstone Partners (until 2015).

It is very interesting to examine these other license holders btw. For example, Ironstone Partners claimed to have "C64" license from Tulip. egames inc. has expressed piracy concerns over Amiga software, given their business. Envizions, Inc. is well...you all know who they are from past threads. heh.

| We're still toying with that," Altman told The Reg today. "We could call it a Commodore 64, 'cause of the 64-bit processor. Should we or not? I don't know. |
Quote:
Altman says he slapped the Commodore name and logo on his site in an effort to, well, locate the rights holder. That way, he could negotiate a deal that would allow him to slap the name and logo on his site. "It's such a convoluted entanglement of corporations and subsequent corporations and sell-offs and resales of that trademark over the years, it was very difficult to determine who the real trademark owner was - or is," Altman explained. "We wanted to go to the dance. We didn't have a partner. In order to entice whoever that legal entity was or is, we just put the logo up on our website." |
It's been pretty clear throughout, that no one knows who owns what. It seems like a similar methodology is now being employed to determine the status of WorkBench. Just use it...and see who complains or files suit. Heh.

I was wondering if Cloanto was working with CommodoreUSA for their "Workbench 5" distro, well it does not seem realistic. |

| I find it hard to follow the legal mumbo-jumbo of the documents, but it seems they have been at it over the trademark for a couple of years now. There have been several suspensions issused while both sides negotiate. But it seems in November Cloanto petitions for a final ruling. Interesting as this coinsides with CUSA string of announments.
/Plaz Speculation... Cloanto gets annoyed when CUSA starts using the trademark before negotiations have been settled?

The trademark game functions at least partially by the golden rule, whoever has the gold rules. Microsoft has no real trademark on Windows, but the have a highly paid set of attorneys who defend it. The cost of defeating the trademark is just too high, so it stands. |

Forgive me. I know how tiring the subject of legal action has become. But there are new documents and it is news and of interest to some.
