Just received the latest email from Zach Weddington on the big California Shoot for the Viva Amiga Documentary...

Project Update #13: The Big California shoot, Part 1.
Posted by Zach Weddington

Check the blog post. It was a huge success. I could NOT have done this without you. I bought a camera and paid for the airfare and hotel with your money. Thank you so much, backers. It means the world to me that you had faith in me. You are gonna love this film.

-Zach

@Franko

Looking Fully Sick Man!!

It looks like hes got some good scenery planned also amoungst the scenes perhaps?

Atleast he seems very happy to do this film, thats always a positive for a good outcome generally speaking ofcourse.

Cheers and thanks for the update post.

@Templario

Hopefully according to Zach it should be ready by early next summer...

With the enthusiasm he has for this project it certainly looks like it's going to be worth the wait and with new interviews & footage perhaps we may just find out some of the answers to all those Amigaland questions that have been avoided for all these years now...

Not sure how you paid or which option you chose but I used the "backers" option to "pledge $150 or more" which was paid through Amazon and a few days after July 21st deadline passed and the target was reached I received from Amazon a confirmation email/ invoice that my payment was successful...

As for emails from Zach, they seem to arrive about every 4 weeks updating the progress of the movie. If you haven't received a confirmation email yet from whomever you paid through and the money has been withdrawn from your bank account, I suggest you contact them first...

If you have no luck there then try contacting Zach directly either at www.amigafilm.com or via his YouTube account http://www.youtube.com/user/zweddington

I have found Zach to be quite happy and responsive to answer any questions/ comments or emails people send him but you really should check first with whomever you made you payment by...

PS: Did you just "donate" your money or did you "Pre-Order" or become a "backer" via Kickstart, either way your payment should have been made by now and you should have received confirmation of this from PayPal or Amazon etc...

@retro

To be honest I have no idea about what this "netbook" thing is or if it is actually Amiga related but as far as the documentary goes, I'm under the impression that it will mainly concentrate on the birth of the Amiga from the Jay Miner days through it's peak till it's it's demise with Escom/ Gateway...

From what Zach has said so for it's mainly going to be a mixture of old & new footage/ interviews with various players from the days of Commodore depicting the rise & fall of the Amiga, to documenting where the Amiga was used in TV, Music, Special FX and the like with those who adopted it at the time...

I also believe there is to be some "scene" footage of past and present user groups and how they have used/ use the Amiga as a sort of underground sub culture to hold their "demo parties" & "music scenes" as an alternative to modern day computers...

Whatever the final product turns out to be I have high hopes that it will be a good (warts & all) documentary that will preserve the history of the Amiga and give us something to show the world just how important the Amiga and it's whole concept played in shaping what we have come to know as home computing...

Only time will time but I have faith in this project and believe Zach can pull off here something a wee bit special that will please Amiga fans worldwide...

Surely main focus would be at "golden age" and "demise". Viva Amiga trailer contains
Trevor Dickinson, and "living in spite of it" part. Therefore, it would be expected that it presents Mining/Natami/MOS/AROS/OS4 development at the last part - which could be a real benefit of reminding Classic and ex-Classic users development is still going on.

While its good to remember good times, it could be benefitial to feature presentation of current.

Movie might be done about or before the "nettbook" and that is NOT the most important thing as that "Amiga lives"

You should be fine then as you should have proof on your paypal account of this payment...

Are you registered on KickStarter to receive the VivaAmiga emails ???

If you were you would know that when the film is complete and ready for distribution VivaAmiga will send you an email to confirm that they still have the correct address to send your DVD's too...

Just one other thing, you did use KickStarter or the Pre-Order on the actual VivaAmiga site to pay and not just the "donate" section on VivaAmiga...

If you only chose to "donate" then that could be the reason why you haven't heard anything, plus you wont receive a DVD if you only donated your money...

Well, I was suscribe to the list, and I think that is a "fraud" because in the Pre-Ordering page only you has two options Kickstarter Page and Donate, and second don't show "Buy or Pre-Order" only the people that have paid, is the last time that I put money in an Amiga project, the last.

I'm at a slight loss to understand what the issue you're experiencing is.

You said you hadn't had confirmation of your pre-order, so Franko suggested you check your PayPal account. You did this, and found the invoice you needed. Problem solved, surely?

If you donated via Kickstarter, then you should be receiving email updates. Is it these emails that you have been missing?

@Templario

Well i've just checked through the list of 457 "Backers" on KickStarter and if you used the user name "Templario" you're not on the list...

Of course you may have used your real name or something else altogether but I don't know that...

Simple thing is, instead of getting all worked up about it, you should contact PayPal as you have paid via them and they will sort things out for you if you have somehow been scammed...

I doubt you have been scammed as the payment should have gone to "Rock Steady Media Services LLC", could be all just a simple mix up...

I strongly suggest you contact PayPal right away and you should soon have things sorted out one way or the other...

@Templario

I'm still not clear as to which option you chose, maybe you just selected "donate" !!!

Either way like HenryCase said you have a PayPal invoice, so use the details on that and try contacting "Rock Steady Media Services" as they will surely be able to tell you which option you have paid your money into...

There is not much point in asking other people on the forums as to what you did and getting yourself all worked up about it...

Sorry mate, but I don't understand you at all...

You paid via PayPal , I've told you what to do to solve this problem but yet you don't seem to do anything about it other than get worked up and proclaim you will never give money again...

If you aint gonna help yourself then there is nothing more I can do to help you...
