It died for the main reason sites like that die: end of interest. Back in 2008 - when new posts began to be very scarce - I contacted the author asking if I could help him with the site. He just refused saying he wasn't going to open the blog to different posters, and that in the future he would have written a little more. Unluckily, only the first statement became reality.

It's a pity, since it became a popular site and the best place to find fresh AROS news, which are covered today by other sites as well. Paul's good attitude and skill at writing, however, gave it a professionalism other sources lack of. I hope he'll be back some times, after all AROS has become today far more interesting than it was when he left it, or that he will at least give administrative access to someone else, because The Aros Show has been a great site once, and it deserved a better fate than current one.

@paolone

In March 2010 I asked via email Paul about further updates of the AROS show and at the time he answered this:

Quote:

Well to be honest I have kind of lost interest in doing The AROS Show. I have turned my attention to other things and haven't checked the AROS news for some time. I don't know if I've done it for so many years and just over time I've lost interest or what, but I just don't have the spark anymore.

Maybe down the road I will change my mind and it will spark my interest again, who knows.

Wow. That strikes me as rather selfish. Did he not realize how many other people really enjoyed the show? That he wouldn't think of turning it over to some else to continue after he lost interest, how sad for the community.

It's only a blog. It's not like he's taken off with some source code meaning that no one else can make an AROS related blog.

@Rob

Yes, it's only a blog, and nothing stops anyone to create a new one. The AROS Show, however, became really popular when it was mantained and its link still lives on many other sites. He already collected and explained to people many fractions of AROS history, with great interviews and so. In a nutshell: he created something great and it's a pity it's now abandoned. I know how those blogs work: he doesn't even need to give the whole blog to anyone else, but just accept contributions from other volounteers (providing there are any). Maybe he's lost his interest, but at least his creature would continue prospering.
