@A1200

Maybe they'll do an AROS 68k build too.

Big Amiga fan as I am, £60 for little more than a backbone game is a rip off. They need o rethink things before they get my support.

Hi All,

Well, the kickstarter campaign didn't fund the game. However, the developers still plan to release it!

http://www.trickyleona.com/

I pre-ordered the Amiga and Dreamcast versions. (How could I not support my two favorite platforms?!?)

Hadnt even heard of this kickstarter.

2 updates doesnt really help. Braben got somewhat critizised for lack of communicating with the masses, yet i belive they had more than 30 updates before the end of kickstarter.

I have feeling that I have seen this game before. It doesn't offer anything new.

They refer to the Amiga computer as a console...

Wish them the best of luck though, price seems very reasonable.

Don't; quite understand why they were on KickStarter first looking to get £35,000 to "fund" this project which they have now cancelled it on KickStarter and are from what I can gather from the link you provided they are now simply just selling it....

Loenas Tricky Adventures Cancelled On Kickstarter...

Makes me wonder why they asked for £35,000 in the first place when it's obvious they didn't require that money to get the product out !!!

If you pre-order via their own website you don't have the protection that Kickstart gives with any money you pledge, they only managed to achieve pledges of £1,794 on Kickstarter....

Now they have their own site set up where you can pre-order the game but no mention of the £35,000 target they supposedly needed and no protection or guarantee for your money, seems either very badly though out or even a wee bit dodgy to be honest...

Seems to happen all the time on Kickstarter.

@Troels

The Amiga was envisioned by Jay Miner as a Games Machine, so naming the Amiga a console isn't entirely wrong...

The Amiga's been called things far worse than just "console"...

Doesn't matter what anyone calls it, as long as you know what it is then that's all that should really matter...

@Troels

I do not have problems with "console" today. If we could rebuild "Amiga" as the best gaming platform we would have a nice niche there. Where should we position it else today? For "serious" applications you already have Mac, Windows and Linux, so there is only "entertainment" left. And the name "Amiga" is tightly connected for many people with gaming.

Gaming is the area all our platforms would fit best and f.e. missing Memory Protection is not important there, more important is having a fast platform. And fast are all NG OSs.

For many people I think the Amiga 500 effectively was a console: They'd put a disk (cartridge) in, switch it on, and then (after a little while!) play a game. Just like you'd do with a 'real' console. And quite possibly they'd never touch that Workbench thing that had that really thick manual...

@ChrisH

I suspect that most people refer to it as a console for the same reason they refer to the games as "roms". These individuals all use emulators and downloaded the disk images, but as they are used to game roms for their consoles (which was the correct use of the word rom), they just use the same terms for any computer emulation and its software as well.
