Hi Tufik,

What kind of open sourcing are you thinking of? Open sourcing the AVM2? Flash Player? The VM is available right now through the Tamarin effort: http://hg.mozilla.org/tamarin-central

Are you talking about the compiler? We also donated Falcon to Apache recently.

Even if they did not open source it fully only provided a linkable GCC .o file to be linked on PowerPC and x86 then make possible to do some thing whit, They will need to take out OS specific parts.

@AmigaBlitter

Flash is a product that's in it's last days. Adobe will want to squeeze whatever profit is left in it before they open source it.

@persia

It's seems that there are parts of Flash that Adobe cannot share. Adobe doesn't have the rights to share.

@AmigaBlitter

The compiler and the VM seems to be available

From the Mozilla Tamarin page:

"The goal of the "Tamarin" project is to implement a high-performance, open source implementation of the ECMAScript 4th edition (ES4) language specification. The Tamarin virtual machine will be used by Mozilla within SpiderMonkey, the core JavaScript engine embedded in Firefox®, and other products based on Mozilla technology. The code will continue to be used by Adobe as part of the ActionScript™ Virtual Machine within Adobe® Flash® Player. "
