@dhey59

When you talk about Amiga OS are you talking about classic Amiga's like the 1000, 500, 500+, 600, 1200 ect or are you talking about the next gen Amiga systems like the x1000 and such?

@CritAnime

hes obviosly reffering to "amiga os", which must mean os4. whoever meant genuine amiga wouldnt mention an "amiga os" in first place and wouldnt need to ask about compatible mouse or keyboard since he usually would be given it all together, probably even along with some software.

@dhey59

AmigaOS4.2 is the current version of the official Amiga Operating System.

your not dumb at all, it is just that this topic (what is a current Amiga) is fiercely debated for some reason.

try this Amiga keyboard not knowing more about your system, I'd just grab a mates USB k/b and mouse and test if they work.

You are posting on the wrong site for OS4 support. You should be posting on either
http://forum.hyperion-entertainment.biz/ or http://www.amigans.net/

I had an idea he meant os4. However you never know of the op was referring to classics such as 1000, 2000, 3000 or 4000. So it was a general question to make sure he got the best help seen as how it was in the general amiga forum. Also I have heard some people refer to workbench as Amiga OS. So again just double checking.

@Panthro

Just like to point out, there is no AmigaOS4.2 ("yet"), AmigaOS4.1 Update 6 is the latest one.

@dhey59

Hi welcome to Amiga.

What hardware do you have?

Most USB keyboards work with AmigaOS, I'm not sure about "gaming keyboards" as such. I suppose it depends just what makes them "gaming" if they have non standards keyamps you might get caught out.

If you have an Aone XE or a Pegasos II then ps2 keybaords and mice will also work.

CritAnime clearly dodn't like to make an assumption, which you would have jumped on hm for, ofcouse you jump on him for not making the assumption too, your trolling become more subtle but never less annoying.

@CritAnime

If you weren't sure best would have been to give both answers. That way wawa has no "in" to troll....

Woops was thinking about 4.2 as I was typing

indeed 4.2 is not available right now.

*edit*

@CritAnime
Thats because the GUI of AmigaOS is called Workbench.

Geez... wawa, no need to get snippy, it's just a new person to the platform asking for info.

@dhey59 Welcome to Amiga and to AW.net!

You'll find a wealth of information here and (generally) kind people to aid you. The only 'dumb' question is the genuine question not asked. Using the search feature will show you a lot of interesting topics on which to read up. Good luck!

Yo, Yo, not seen you in forums for a long time.

@dhey59

Most mouse/keyboards i tried that plugs into usb/ps2 worked. Just go to a store and ask if you can get money back or change to another one if it doesnt work. Or if you have any interesting mouse/kbd you can give url and maybe someone has the same working.

@dhey59

Welcome to Amiga land, and for the hardware there is one list with all USB hardware that work with Amiga OS4, but you can use keyboards and mouse that you can find in your favorite shop, even Apple USB mouse, for example the Logitech mouse and keyboard work fine with my Sam.
