It's seems that i have to pay a complete dinner to m3x, assuring that next hardware would have been an Arm based product....

http://www.acube-systems.biz/index.php?page=news&id=116

This is really, don't know....

http://www.acube-systems.biz/index.php?page=hardware&pid=755

I don't know about what this mean, so.... don't shoot at me, nor to acube.

@AmigaBlitter

I don't know about the details on the agreement you have on the dinner thing but I guess it should not be much more than a BigMac menu .

As I read it ACube advertises MAS products on their site where MAS will advertise ACube products on their site. Nothing to be too worried about (or too excited, althought I can hear the 'Amiga moving to ARM'-discussions already ).

I think it's just an healthy development from a business point of view.

amiga stays on 68k as ever, but amigang or whatever it is called slowly realizes it must move somewhere from the omaha beach. either arm or x86, so they rush..

Im sure of one thing sam is the mobo can be simple adapter to a laptop case. It is an all in one motherboard with a graphic gpu lan and oudio onboard , the other components for make a laptop are standard ..if Enrico wanna for sure him can do this, the only one problem will be the prize... For sure more of 1200€ .

of course. we r actually capable of many unbelievable things. the only doubt i have is, why has that not happened yet. you know, your new posting here. there were guys like you around for many moons, and they (apparently) left resigned. not because of us "naysayers", i guess. but because no assumptions they made, otherwise reasonable, went real. just for your consideration.

Hasn't ACube always been pretty clear their primary target is all kinds of "embedded use" for factories etc? And "NG Amiga" being a "nice extra" they personally like, but probably cannot really count on profits etc.

If enough of their (primary) clients request a 6502 based board, they will very likely make one. Of course that doesn't mean AmigaOS4 would automatically be ported to it.

@Jupp3

M3X wrote the motherboard will not have Cpu on it...
means for sure will be cpu module sold separately from the motherboard
this means they will made only one type of motherboard and the customers will select the cpu family for it..

i think this strategy is great because will mede the motherboard more cheaper and simple upgradable from the customers , plus will open more use opportunity for the Sam mobo.

@AmigaBlitter

ah, i can see the headlines allready. the laptop will be called LapArm and the stationary one will be SamArm or Arm2k ?

anyway i'd support them in whatever they will do and if that Arm AmigaOS4 will grow to fruition that would also be cool but it would suck to be at square null again with Software.

It's going to happen sooner or later, might as well be sooner...

Actually, afaik, adding a CPU board connector & second board (for CPU) can raise the total price considerably, that's why almost no-one is doing it nowadays (X86 world has switched to CPU-on-socket approach for upgrades)

But of course that makes quite a bit more sense on "really special cases", like supporting completely different families of processors, which most definitely don't share a common CPU socket / pinout etc.

and simple upgradable from the customers

Also keep in mind it won't likely be able to support "all kinds of CPU's", I'd expect it to be mostly one type of CPU from each family, perhaps available at different speeds.
