| i am bidding on a amiga 1200
I have been an Amiga nut for years & through that time have bought & sold many parts, sadly it is time to let go of my baby as i moving abroad & have finally been told to grow up !
The amiga is running 3.0 roms, with a 4GB CF card with ALL your'e favourite Games,Utils,PD software & Games - BEST of all is i fitted a Blizzard 1220/4 original memory board to this machine & was able to later aquire an original Blizzard ADD4 meg expansion taking the board to 8 meg, comes with a 68882 33a fpu fitted - SOME TRADERS ARE CHARGING OVER £100 JUST FOR THE STANDARD 4 MEG EXPANSION BOARD !!
will his run amiga o4 and the real amikit set up thank you _________________

Way better then vaniilla A1200 but I do believe real AmiKit has higher requirements not to be pain slow, that is 030 and 16MB fast. FPU should help, but not as much as real 030 with FPU http://real.amiga.sk/what-is-it.htm
AmigaOS 4.1 Classic? You need so expensive PPC card and at least 64MB FAST, 128MB recommended - that requires additional upgrade even to expensive PPC cards ... just to offer OS4 entry level ... so for OS4 its easier to buy e.g. Acube SAM 440 board._________________ OS 3.x AROS and MOS supporter, fi di good, nothing fi di unprofessionalism. Unless it BlizzardPPC it want run AmigaOS4, high price and low performance, and to really get the most out of it you need a graphic-card, and scsi controller, etc etc, we are taking about putting it tower case, and buy lots of extra equipment like a PCI expectation bus, networks card, etc.
Blizzard/060 is great to look at old demos and run shapeshifter (MacOS7.x.x/8.x.x emulation) and some games, you can also play mp3 on it, but that’s about it, personally if was going to use one, I buy lots of hardware upgrades to max it out.
If you want run AmigaOS4 you better look at something newer then this, go for Sam440 if you don't want won't spend a lot of money.
The Sam460 is best price / performance value I think.
AmigaONE-X1000 is where expensive computer, if you can afford it you should grab one before the offer closes, it is the most up to date hardware for AmigaOS4.x.

I'm sorry, are you bidding on an A1200 or letting one go?
The subject looked like it was about an eBay Amiga you are interested in and I thought telling guys to back off. But the content made it look like you are the seller. Well some of it. How confusing. |

AmigaOS4 on classic Amiga requires as a bear minimum:
BlizzardPPC card (for A1200 models) CyberstormPPC card (for 3000/4000)
A graphics card (Voodoo3 via Mediator for example) or CyberVisionPPC/BVisionPPC
128MB Fast Ram (256MB preferred)
It is therefore also recommended to have the 3.1 ROMs in the system over the standard 3.0 ROM.
If you plan to use it as just a classic machine, then ideally an 030/50 as a minimum starting point (040 or 060 would be better - but the Blizzard cards were some of the best accelerators for the Amiga, so Blizzard 1240 / 1260 cards. These are both harder to come by and can be expensive though), and at least 16-32MB fast ram.
A graphics card is a nice addition, but in a desktop model almost impossible to use unless you have a BPPC/BV combination or use the external Graffiti card (which again, may be impossible to find these days).
Towered 1200s have more options, but only if you have a GREX, Mediator or Z2/3/4 busboard additions inside allowing the use of either the big box Amiga graphics cards, or some older PC PCI graphics cards. _________________ Test sig (new) |
