@Franko

You're one rude son of a gun when you want to be! I'm off to use my 'other' computer in a more productive and creative way on M$ Word none the less. I'll use footnotes and probably use Arial font and it'll work fine. There's no need to go upstairs to use AmigaWriter or Pagestream as it is not really gonna do the job any better and hence won't tempt me from that plan. If I need to reference anything the internet browser is at hand.

Enjoy your computing on you 'miggy and your web browsing on your mobile I hope you manage to retain the iron grip on your thread as would best please you. Good day to you.

edit by mod: It was more frustration with some of the answers and probably the use of the "S" word.

Rude... RUDE !!!

I have been perfectly civil here in responding to people like yourself who have obviously decided to try and take this thread off topic,

edit by mod: OK, don't go there. Put the claymore down and step back.

@Franko

3rd of october 1985 here, i only got Amiga's , both REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL Amiga's as you call them and UNREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL Amiga's (NG and Escom/gateway etc).

Sadly in 1994 when Commodore died i decided to continue to upgrade it so i added a 060 a ppc a mediator a voodoo , a radeon , a usb 2 card , 256mb ram a tv card and so on so my a1200 is not a REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL Amiga anymore and just like the UNREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAL Amiga's that come from Eyetech,DCE,ACube and A-Eon etc.

oh and i have a fully expanded UNREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL Cd32 as it has a 030 and fast mem and a hdd etc in it too...........

I have an unexpanded a1000 so maybe i should use that for my daily needs.. boot with floppy etc.

i do cheat though as i have a PS3 for my gaming needs and i have a Iphone (yeah yeah) for my daily phonecalls and other UNREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL amiga stuff..

so, your point was?

Hi,

I still use my commodore vic-20, c-64, amiga 500 for games and retro nostalgica. If i could afford the time to go in my Amiga lab 30 hours a day, i would. I for once Still use my A4000 almost every day for games (again) mp3, Sometime i fire up my A4000T for video editing and i insist for using that instead of hd gear. Just for the fun of it.

But unfortunatly i can't say that i use any of my amiga gear on daily basis since i work as an IT and too bad for my the amiga is usless on most the website i need, but rest assured that when i go home, i'don't use microsoft.

Oh and i've been using amiga since 1991.

hardly anyone is able to use amiga for all his computing needs today, except his needs are very limited. remember, these needs are not only defined by the user but also imposed by the environment he lives in. you can drive coach even nowadays, but you will have difficulties in a heavy traffic of rush hour and will have somehow feed your horse, this all except you retreat to amish land.

sorry, not even me, although hardcore amiga fetishist, can use my amiga for that many, let alone all, computing tasks. but i still try to use it for whats appropriate.

Well as you're obviously have reading difficulties too and as you didn't even make a point there...

It might come as a shock to you that I wasn't making a point I was asking some questions, big difference... and quite simple to understand (except for you obviously)...

Honestly guys like yourself and BigD should stop trying to be smart arses as you fail miserably at it... stick to gibbering rubbish elsewhere please... and leave the smart arse comments to a pro like me...

Yup NG, MorphOS, WinUAE etc... has nothing to do with this thread (that's why I tried to make it clear it's only about REAL Commodore Amiga hardware

I have a old Amiga500 some where its a 7Mhz 68000 CPU, 1 zorro slot, and 1MB ram, its too slow for every thing I need to do even back in 1992, so I don't use it.

GAWD... seriously WTF is wrong with some of you people, is there something in the air right now affecting peoples ability to read a simple post...

edit by mod: That was a polite answer as to why some people do not use them the way you asked. Don't shoot the messenger.

Where did I ask or even enquire as to why people DON'T use an Amiga these days for whatever obscure reasons you want to give !!! Answer... NOWHERE...

edit by mod: However, threads are open to debate and do tend to sidetrack.

It's like talking to a brick wall round here today or to people with learning difficulties whom are guessing at what the words in my first post said and then wrongly posting replies to it that have nothing to do with the subject or simple questions I asked...

No matter how many times I've had to say it here in this thread and made it so obviously clear what I was asking, it seems some people have suddenly become retarded and are gibbering and posting about things that have bugger all to do with what the thread is about or the questions I asked...

Seriously... have some of you gone mental or have you always been that way !!!

edit by mod: We've always been that way. Are you new here? .

@Franko

I stopped using a Commodore Amiga for everyday use about 1995-1996 when I bought an Escom/Amiga Technologies A1200 for everyday use instead.

I sold most of that gear now and have been using Amiga OS4 since 2004/2005.

@Franko

I still use my amigas, not for anything usefull but I like to tinkering with them, testing all kind of stuff. I have also next gen machine wich I use for everyday surfing and watching my favorite TV shows.

Now I have just connected my C128 to TV, purpose is play some original C128 game. I realized some time ago, that I haven't ever done anything with C128 mode, I used them only in C64 mode.

I think by now, you've had your answer. There are many people who still use the 'Pure' Amigas, many who use a combination, and others who find more modern systems (like your Mac, for instance) more to their tastes.

Since this has turned into a slag fest, I'm locking the thread. You may, of course, appeal this decision by sending a PM to _Steve_, Tomazkid or another moderator.

Do you realize that Franko is the Begbie of Amiga and this thread represents his way of throwing the glass over the balcony?

No, he isn't. He asked a simple question.

Depending on what you want to do with a computer you don't "need" the Internet. A dot matrix printer and a copy of Pen Pal may be all you want in order to print letters that you can actually mail to someone using an envelope and a stamp.

The question wasn't "stupid" as some people have suggested, and calling people such things is a violation of the TOS.

I'm unlocking this thread, making some edits to the posts here and advising people to stay on topic and be civil. Any ARs on posts after this that blatantly violate the rules will be dealt with accordingly.

Be nice folks, I can't believe we're arguing over using "real" classic Commodore Amigas. It must be a full moon tonight!
