| Is there a fix for 1D4 Alice heat problems? My board worked for 2 years with a 1260 but then started to corrupt the mouse pointer.
I know it´s Alice because all glitches disappear when I cool the chip down.. So does anyone know what pin Alice get it´s current on? _________________

Had the same problem on an A1200 a number of years ago, fixed it by simply applying a small low profile heatsink to the Alice chip, worked fine after that...
You can find the A1200 schematics at the following link for the info you're looking for but a simple heatsink should solve the problem...

A heat sink as Franko mentioned is a simple & effective solution but I would also recommend installing a small fan in the case taking the power from the +5v of the floppy drive.

I have the same config, runs fine for hours. I'd recommend putting a nice copper heatsink on alice.. use thermal paste not sticker pad. |

I have tried a heat sink with fan but it doesn´t work, this is something else! Like I said on other forums - I start it up wait till it get warm, glitchy mouse and then I cool Alice down and all is perfect again.
But that is with an ice cube in a plastic bag!
Alice is drawing to much current for some reason and I wanna know why, help me find the + pin (current in) of Alice and help me back trace it! Last edited by khayoz on 02-Mar-2013 at 03:48 AM.

Like I said a simple heat sink cured for me the same symptoms you are descibing on the, even a quick blast of freezer spray was enough to make it "normal for about 15 minutes...
But if you're requiring an ice cube in a plastic bag to cool yours down then maybe there's something worse wrong with yours than the one I had...
Just out of interest have you tried running it with everything possible detached, ie: no floppy drive, no accelerator/ ram boards etc... (just a bare mother board & mouse) to see what happens...
That way you could maybe track it down to a faulty power supply if no glitches appear when running a bare motherboard and as little as possible current is being drawn for the power supply... _________________
