My (un)educated guess is that the 50pin Quantum forces the Seagate into a HVD mode, which is also supported by the A3000 SCSI host adapter. The Seagate alone is switched into a LVD mode which isn't supported by the A3000 host adapter.

Possibly, but it could also be:
1) lack of termination power which is more common on newer drives 2) improper termination of all lines 3) bugs in the SCSI proto chip

I purchased and tried to use an active and passive terminators. At now A3000 started and I even can enter to boot menu which showes new Seagate partitions.
But when I tried to boot from new hard disk, I catched the guru error - 8000 0008.
When I tried to boot from old hdd - it is perfectly booting.
Does anybody know how I can fix that?
