because you seemed to fear to violate laws when you buy old amiga-software (what I do not think) |

Amigawriter is on CD and can be installed. Many other programs are downloads and most games are ADFs. So only applications are a problem. You could buy a A600 (as I did) and create the ADF yourself. And there are many applications already available in web as freeware or partly opensource. |

I can think of a couple of ways 1. Catweasel attached to PC, can (I believe) create ADF. 2. In the days of MS-DOS, there was (IIRC) a clever hack that allowed a standard PC drive to read unprotected Amiga disks (without extra hardware like a Catweasel). It was kind of slow though!_________________

If I used low-level dd access to the disk drive via linux, skipping filesystems and copying an exact clone of the diskette to a file, would there be results? |

| @linuxlalala I don't think so, no. IIRC the (MS-DOS?) program in question used some clever tricks with the floppy drive hardware to get it to read Amiga disks (I vaguely recall something about the hardware reading extra data that was not normally passed to the OS, but somehow it was able to trick the drive into supplying that data). _________________

Is there any free word processor I could get with ttf support and "modern" abilities (handle formatting, pdf export, etc, etc)? I know FinalWriter 97 and WordsWorth, but I think those are copyrighted and difficult to find.
Thank you in advance, Linuxlalala

Don't know if someone else already mentioned it: http://software.alinea-computer.de/seiten/amigawriter_uk.php (can at least import Word files)
To generate .pdf files I use FxScan 4.0 (FxScan 4.05 update).
I'd say we're urgently lacking a decent office package for the Amiga - be it classic or NG..._________________ Ciao

No need to do so - I already bought it the first day H&P had it on sale...
Although - looking at the price - I should have waited a decade before buying... _________________ Ciao
