030 is slow. You can try to use mpega and go with 22050/8bit/mono. _________________ OpenWindows Initiative. Port PS3 hardware to bananas. For free. Join today and receive expired $50 cupon from AI! |

opi's right, the 030 is on the slow side. You can try the non-FPU 020 version of mpega.library. SongPlayer on Aminet was a nice player. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

So what's the problem with that? Not everybody has the will and time to write in forums. He might as well have followed the forum all this time but without writing something. I don't see anything wrong with that. Besides, if we welcome him back your way then he'll post again when X3000 will be out _________________ Vanilla A500 NOS A1200 (Powered by V1200, CoffinOS r.58) PowerMac beast, MorphOS 3.15 (registered) |

No, No, No problem at all! Maybe my bad English?

I always enjoyed using SongPlayer with mpega.library when I solely used my '030 equipped Amiga. Play around with buffers and sound quality and you'll find a usable setup.

Hi have the exact set up as you and i use what came with the os 3.9 disc ,the icluded amp is awesome ,and i dont know about this set up being slow , mine will eat mp3s no problems at all ,i usaly play at 192 kbs and there should be no trouble at all ,i do play them in mono ,but there again i think mono is a much fuller sound that hits you right down the middle ,unlike that poor digital sterio tinny sound we have all been brainwashed into thinking is good ,best wishes Brian |

On my A3000 I used to copy the MP3 into RAM disk and then play it from there. But don't try anything fancier than 128 kbps and get rid of as much eye-candy as possible. If the GUI players are too power hungry, try a SHELL version instead. _________________ Back home... |

Hi just another word ,as i see someone else has also recomended the Amigaamp ,is this not what is already on the os3.9 disc ,because if it is it works a treat ,it may be a good idea to turn all the eye candy off ,but i never have ,and it has never froze ,crashed ,just a perfect way to play mp3s ,i also used to use the pcmcia slot with a cf card loaded with mp3s untill i installed a cd player which i powered from another power supply, and this works very well, what ever you use have fun Brian |

I remember one called Prayer. A friend used to use it. It was written by someone from the female side of town and had a picture embedded into it IIRC. So there was more reason to use it.
Don't about the quality or depends though. |

If you want good quality sound with a 030 then i suggest you look for a hardware based player like the MAS player. The MAS even lets you playback high quality mp3s on a low end a500.
The other option is to get a faster accelerator card or sticking with low quality mp3s with player set to lower quality.Last edited by Tomas on 24-Oct-2010 at 03:05 PM.

Amigas were not created to play MP3, ;-D They play better MODS. MAS player or a PPC is the option for that. Maybe the Prelude 1200 or Melody have some mp3 decoding hardware.
On a 030, awful sound quality and no multitasking !!!

I really don't like mono tunes, mono 11khz sounds really bad IMHO. but loosing multitasking is the worst.....! At least it's in the lower limit to even "hear" sound...

I used to play mp3 tunes with mpega or songplayer at 22050 mono and the output was fine on my 030. |
