Downloaded it and started it underAmiga OS4.1 update 6, and it starts and the first splash screen comes up...then it just sit there. No errors or anything.

Anyone tried it?

Scott

I guess it one more of this nice demos that are designed to crash.... because you don't have the classic chipsets on your computer

My guess is CIAA and CIAB timers, thats preventing it from going anywhere, if they fixed that it probably be whit out sound.

I have just tried, at least the final version works flawlessly on my Pegasos II running MorphOS, including AHI sound and CGFX screen support. No idea about the party version tho'.

They suggest in the docs that they think it should work as-is with Morph OS and OS4. Perhaps i will try running CIAgent to see if that helps.

Thanks

Hmmm...how long did you wait for it to load...I didn't wait very long, just saw the intro screen and when it didn't seem to do anything for a few seconds shut it down.
Some of the other AGA demos from Revision 2012 worked just fine on OS4, but Kioea is the largest, around 14 megabytes...wonder if it is uncompressing/rendering and I didn;t wait long enough. I'll try it again.

Thanks,

Scott

It's working for most people. You could try switching the screens to check if you've gotten any errormessages. I've only been able to test it on 060/AGA and MorphOS myself, so can't say more about the problems on OS4.

And you should also download the final version here, as it has some small fixes here and there. If that doesn't solve your problems running it, I could try compiling a new executable with more debug-info, so we can see where it gets stuck.

Nope, it's actually designed to be systemfriendly. :)

On my system, the demo starts in about 5 seconds on the loading screen, including the mode switch of my monitor.

@Britelite

I'm positive surprized, its a nice demo, it goes into the system fremdly folder.

Runs in 640x480, a bit slow, I guess the demo is pushing fake planar modes, I think I see a few planar mode tricks here so not so easy to do in chunky I guess, even if demo was running a bit slow it did not cause any problems for the sound.

Tried the 320x200 lowres mode does not work on AmigaOne-X1000, I only got a dsi error.

Hemmm. Some thing happened to mouse pointer after quiting the demo.

Well, the demo is rendered in 320x240 and then rescaled to 640x480 in software, so that might slow it down a bit. Although the X1000 should be beefy enough to run it, could it be that the FPU-emulation isn't that fast in AmigaOS4?

You need to have a 320x240x8bit mode defined, but it shouldn't result in an error though.

Was this after running it normally, or trying the lores-mode? I really need to find a cheap OS4-system so I could test my stuff :)

@Britelite

The FPU should be no problem, hemm but its JIT'ed code, so you never know what is finally executed, do you use Amigalib? divmod32() etc?.

Anyway graphics conversion is tricky; anyway what do you think they do, to display this?

I guess what happens to graphics is what this code does:

http://pastebin.com/W1gawcKc

The slowness might have nothing to do whit the demo, maybe the conversion is done on a interval.
