well i thought excalibur is actually the feature of this theme, otherwise i dont see much except of already known background and some tweaks of menubar, which are alright. less might be sometimes more, thats true, but i dont see whats fuzz about since it is apparentLy not even a theme but a concept draft.

@wawa

Concept draft are welcome too, it helps me think about how to implement the features needed to present graphic in that way.

Some of feature will come whit or whit out like the font support.

Most of this can be done in a theme for excalibur right now, but whit some compromise.

@djnick

Your screenshot looks good to me and btw I like the functionality of start bar in general :)

First of all, because I see that you have "hide" the preferences drawer in an unorthodox way, there is THIS utility that iconifies anything to your Workbench.

As for your Excalibur mock - up, the Utilities drawer is extensively big! You can't have a vertical list covering 100% of your visible WB area. You need to homogenize options under categories and then have an small arrow that will expand each category under mouse hover. Of course the above contradicts Excalibur's idea that mostly lists what the "Utilities drawer" contains.

Also, having the time and date in two different places (Jack and Excalibur) is not very professional, imo. You should display different information at the right down corner.

Some suggestions for beginning.

Yes i agree. I hope also there will be an easier way to add skins.

@NutsAboutAmiga
When i add a menu item how do i get it higher up in the "edit excalibur menus"? I want to add Games and Multimedia and when i do that it gets added last in the list. Is there a way to sort the list or move them up or down? I also want to be able to rename "Work" to something else and change the path but it doesnt work.

@djnick

To be honest, I think it's ugly and why copy windows, it's an Amiga.
Despite of the graphic work you put in there which is I think an ok graphics quality it is not something I would like to see in an AmigaOS.

Tips:
1.>
The huge text AmigaOS 4.1 isn't really that Appealing. I know I'm running AmigaOS 4.1 and I don't want to see that everywhere back in the OS. Try to stylish it more without text.
I see so many screenshots that have AmigaOS 4.x texts in their. Really it doesn't make your desktop more beautiful. And even in the old days they didn't put huge texts of OS versions anywhere.

2.>
Don't try to copy the Windows taskbar paradigm.
Stick with the AmigaOS top pulldown menu's! That's where it belongs.

3.>
Focus on improving the launch bar paradigm.
Have a look what new you can make the application launch-bar more intuitive and Amiga like.

4.>
The excalibur desgin isn't appealing and you should not go for this design.

Hope it helps...

Only if you edit the menu text file manually after you added every thing you wont.
Nothing like that is implemented in the current Menu editor GUI.

As long as you select directory first and then type in a other menu item name for it should work,
if you type in menu item name first, and then select a directory it will replace the menu item name.

NB! Excalibur does not like paths ending whit “:”, so make shore you select a directory.

@Cool_amigaN

The Excalibur clock can be turned off, if you have better looking clock some where.
Since there is a bug related to turning off the clock it might be a good idea to wait for the next version.

Not trying too, there are a number of start menus too look at the Gnome has one and KDE has one. Its all about making things easy accessable, what ever that means.

The pull down menus do not support graphics, icons, and there limit to number of sub menus, and I can't put excalibur on top of it because it will conflict current menu system, there also thing whit menus, like you can't make them sticky.

The screen shots lie, the toolbar is a launch bar, you can drag icons too it, its just not shown in the screen shot.

@Thread and DJnick

The bounty (here) says the following should be released by now:

- OS4 theme. Where is it?
- some OS4 icons. Where are they?
- Workbench loading audio samples with female voice. Where can I hear that?
- AmigaOS video presentations and animations on Youtube. Where?

Thank you.

Start up sound was released a while back & I personally like it. It's a female voice saying 'welcome to Amiga system'

Other things I'm not sure about

the bount page states the deadline as the end of last year. it was hardly expectable that it was gonna be kept, not even an status update attempt, only some teasers, mockups and unrelated projects have been posted. i cant say im surprised, seems business as usual. the bounty and the machine should be passed to someone else imho. objective difficulties cannot be taken as an excuse to keep the funds and not to fulfill the obligations other people seriously invested into.

What does creating some gfx for commercial websites have to with the fact it was some very generous Amiga users whom actually clubbed together to buy him his Amiga set up in order to create things for them...

Somehow don't think that him making money from commercial sites is of any benefit to those folk whom bought him his system for other uses that he promised to bring them in return...

I've got a dog and thirty two squirrels to support but I don't go begging on the internet for an Amiga set up and then failing to deliver on promises made to help out with that... cry me another one...

Love your theme. Like all of your stuff just looks great.

Looks really useful. A good option for those that don't want to use the dock and prefer good old fashioned text menus.

Great work.

Thanks for your answers but I see only a few pictures (mockups?) and no download links.
Or I'm too tired tonight
