Sorry, without the source for MAMEGUI, there's absolutely nothing I can do about that.
It'll be an illegal access in there somewhere.

If you can get me the source I may be able to fix it though. :)

@Spirantho

Unfortunely the source for this GUI was never released, but it's also very old and written with Blitz Basic crap !

So you can understand that the only way is to rewrite a new one with MUI or Reaction

can you make a little test ... try to disable the L:crossdos from the L dir (better move) and try to run the gui another time...
It is strange this gui on the sam 440 motherboard have this problem ... can be a petunia bug?

I tested it on os 4.1.6 Classic and zero problems
On 460 too... Just I'm curious if on x1000 and Amiga one there are this incompatibility issue

@tlosm

I disabled crossdos and i put MAME GUI into the compatibility list in order to don't start it using Petunia but now i got an immediate crash before the game list will be created :-/

@samo79

it is normal crashing because it is pure 68k code and need petunia for work.
Mate This crash is very strange.... Do you have the same crash with warpmame and warpos emu?
If not ... Can you try do disable warpos emu?

@Spirantho @amidog @fab @and everyone else whom work on or has worked on Mame for AmigA.

really nice to see this 0.37 version, it does exactly what i wanted from the start, it's fast and it supports the games i wanted it to so i am happy, thanks.

Fab mentions Overlay, is that only for getting better screen refresh or?

Morphos versions of Mame has always used to be "ahead" and better than the os4 and 68k versions and i suspect that is because they ain't quick ports so seing this old version updated, well great stuff!.

btw... alexander weber released this:

http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=emulation/gamesystem/xmamegui.lha

i used to use this back in the day and i contributed to project too but to be honest i haven't tried the gui for a few years now, will check when i get home from work.

Mainly for emulated screen scaling (eg. x2). You can try CloneWindow for that purpose (if your monitor doesn´t support resolutions like 230x200).

I will try if it works ... i used this gui for Xmame sdl and there was working good.
Probably will be some incompatibility with the tooltypes i will check :)
B.037 is really faster and enjoyable ...
Yesterday i played great Aliens from Konami ... 100% speed on my sam ..
and if i dont turn on the audio emulation i see the games run at 600 X 8)

@Spirantho

THX tested her on my SAM460 and works fine. tried outrun, ghost&gobling, rtype, shadowwarriors will try some more.
If I try to see fps (F9,F10,F11 keys) they doesn't work, I'm using an USB keyboard, maybe those Fkeys are hardcoded or my keyboard is sending different keycodes.

Good work!!

I tried to recompile amidog sources with full_37b2 but couldn't. Did you change anything on makefile or sources? TIA

@jabirulo

Yes, I noticed those keys didn't work too. I may look at it when I get chance.

If you want to compile it from AmiDog's sources, all you need to do is:
1) Change the makefile to use gcc instead of powerup-gcc or whateve
2) Ditto with ld and ar
3) Change the amiga sources to use normal headers instead of powerup headers
4) Fix the compile errors of an invalid token (just remove the ## symbols which erroneously join a label with a sign like a bracket).

That's basically all. It does take a bit of tweaking but it's not incredibly difficult.

Alternatively I could email you the source if you want. :)

Look like new gadtools.library exit thru amy update and the mameppc gui is better displayed on Os4 ... for the friends with sam 440 can now check if the system crash and thanks of this new release everything start works?

Eh better displayed exactly means ?
For what i see i can't use the xMame GUI (the only Mame GUI availible for OS4-PPC) with the latest 0.37 ported by Ian, atleast i can't get it working here ..

samo the only one working on the 0.37 b2 gui is on aminet and is very old Mameppc gui.
xMame gui dont work on mame 0,37b2 first because the command lines are different second because the rom database is different compared with Mame 37.b2

About better visualization of MamePPC gui before i cant see the total of the roms on my Rom directory and all the loading/checking and organizing procedures of Mame PPC gui now i can :)

I was hoping with this new relase of gadtools library was fixed the incompatibilty with sam 440 .

About crashing i was asking before you have the same crash with this gui with the Warpmame and warpos emu too?

Mame 37.b2 is great and it's working great, but I can't find so much roms to play with

Is Fab's 0.60 Mame currently under porting?

It would be a very good piece of software, enough quick to play with sam motherboards, more compatible with recent roms and with a MUI gui interface.

@kyle

probably will be more simple have the rom sets working on fab mame ports, the 0.60 port was made for Xbox (first) , Ps2 and Dreamcas too probably on emule and torrents will be simple finds the sets of 0.60 ....

For sure have all the options enable will make more enjoyable the mame old coniops ...The video scaling 2x a good and working gui the option for use the joypad will make the games more ejoyable by the users.

The 37.b2 is working really good & faster but Matthias at that time do this port for work great with the Aga and the old Cgx video boards plus it have the frame skip set to 1 ...it means there is for every game 1 frame skipped by default.
Plus was using the input device for the old Amiga game port on the Amiga 4000 i can play the games with all buttons of my competion pro joypad :P

for the 37.b2 there are some torrent and emule client with mame4droids rom sets usable with the old Amidog port.

in all the case.... have a working mame (37.b2) on Amiga os 4 make me the felling of the great past time ... (1998/1999) when our community was really great and every day there was something new on aminet .... ahhhh the wonderful old time... ...

If Sphiranto finds some free time, maybe he could port also the Fab's 0.60 MAME

@ Sphiranto
By the way, thanks a lot for your port of Mame 37.b2
