I've been playing with Allegro on OS4, and then decided to recompile my game engine for PC.. but on Sourceforge, they didnt supply the .dll file I needed to run the game, so I googled for the library on the web. I found it on someones page, and ran it through AVG, and it came up clean. But it actually has a keylogger built into it according to the Kaspersky antivirus software. I've been pasting the URL to an alpha of my game engine on IRC for about a week.. so if anyones downloaded my Allegro game engine and run it under Windows, please run your anti virus software to fix the problem. Theres an online scanner for Kaspersky which definitely detects the problem, if your existing scanner (like AVG) doesnt see it.

I had to uninstall AVG to install Kaspersky, but for some reason AVG wont uninstall completely. I'm running Ad-aware to see if that will detect the problem.. will let you guys know more as I progress.

Sorry guys. :(

@Yaroze

Possibly.

Kaspersky is reporting "keylogger activity" when the app is run. But that might be because of the way Allegro accesses the keyboard..

My user reported that the archive scans cleanly with Kaspersky now.. but previously he thought it didnt..

It could very well be a false alarm.

If anyone wants to help investigate, and scan this archive with your virus scanners, I've reuploaded the file to my site:

@mike

Thanks. I found it on an allegro programming portal an hour or so ago too.

I don't think so. The site only tells you how many virus scanners think it is malware and how many don't. You still have to decide yourself whom you believe.

Bye,
Thomas

@thomas

A sad state of affairs, eh? No one can produce an instance of it doing keylogging and sending it elsewhere.

So most of them are doing some sort of pattern matching of code snippets or something?
