Hello,

I require some bods to test the new iTunes extension in Jack.

Requirements:

AmigaOS 4.1+
Windows/Mac running iTunes
With a selection of songs, ideally purchased so you can test the cover artwork import
Samba installed, if not why not? ( Samba for Idiots - http://homepages.tesco.net/michael.carrillo/amigasamba/ )

Able to follow the instructions clearly in the Beta Testers.txt and other documents and send back error logs and messages if there are any.

If you don't use iTunes you can still download Jack and test the Get Info button on any mp3s, m4as or avis/mpgs that reside on your system.

If any Python dependancies are missing from this beta distribution please tell me as I need to get this right when I do my installation script.

Don't expect audio output - my SAM 460 doesn't have audio drivers as yet - as soon as OS4 release the drivers I can proceed.

Thanks in advanced, please send bug reports to my email address asap. The interface is by no means complete, you can't search your library as yet is just one example.

Almost forgot, make sure you have Mplayer installed C: otherwise you will not be able to test the Get Info button avis/mpgs.

I'll test for you, I use iTunes almost on a daily basis.

I have CDs ripped and also purchased music.

I always make sure I have coverart, whether it is found on the net automatically or I scan covers of CDs if necessary.

I've managed to sort out the problem I had with the OS4depot icon.
Still haven't sorted out the problem with the Wordnet icon.

If I can sort that, I will look at setting up samba and giving the ITunes icon a go.

Being able to listen to your music across the network natively on AmigaOS is surely enough feather in our cap. Its all about integration.

iTunes doesn't in fact have to running, Jack only requires access to the music folder.

Sorry. I've gotten as far as getting "ping" to work between my A1 and a Vista box. But I can't get SWAT working or SMBFS. I think it's password related, 'cause it won't recognize the Win7 laptop which is on the network wirelessly, either.

Yeah Samba is a bitch to set up, sorry I can't help with Win-problems. Perhaps the Idiot Guide will help - worked for me.

Just tried Michaels guide and have made a right pigs ear of setting up Samba.

Never networked 2 computers before let alone a PC (Windows 7) and my Sam440ep (AmigaOS4.1.2).

I couldn't get it to launch at all. I am still running 4.1 update 2 (not 3) on my main partition, and the differences in python are likely a problem (there is no sys:python/scripts dir for example), so you should probably baseline upd 3. There is also some problem with using "APPDIR:" under update 2 since it asks for an assign explicitly when referenced.

The Hollywood launcher gives an error requestor:

| Cannot read file Mount JackTunes !
| File: main.hws (current line: 48 - In function: OpenFile)

Is it inconsistent with the file named "Mount_JackTunes"? If I rename the file replacing the underscore with a space, it gets further, but then fails again

I don't have AISS, samba, or much else setup on my 4.1 u3 partition, but maybe I will try it some under that install later.

I don't use APPDIR:, I am using Jack: in this instance, the Beta Test instructions I gave in the archive clearly say please make a Jack assignment.

This is what I am trying to determine, although I am pretty sure you should have something in the PYTHON: assignment as Python comes as standard.

EDIT: Okay, checked AmigaOS CD, both lib and scripts are on the CD.

Dumb (slightly off-topic) question, but how do you play m4as on AmigaOS 4.1?

I have loads of them from iTunes, and would dearly love to be able to play them on my Sam, but when I FTPed a couple across they didn't seem to work in mplayer...?
