| Is there a conspiracy or what's the problem?
No torrent has worked for years from thepiratebay which is the only place that actually lets you download a torrent without getting completely spammed with all kinds of moronic #### and fake linkes.
It just sits there as if there are no users online but I know there are. I've tried the latest version of both ctorrent and the ctorrentgui. Same behaviour.
Haven't tried Transmission lately due to it having timing issues with file systems that aren't dead slow. _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft. |

I still use Transmission, but must download to a FFS partition or it crashes. Only other problem I have is a "stop on fatal error", Transmission goes into "pause" mode, but it happens with ctorrent as well.
One other problem, if a torrent doesn't start, I need to "pause" the dl & then "resume" it, no idea what's up with that.
I could see if Transmission works if you have a torrent link. Last edited by sundown on 03-Aug-2011 at 07:57 PM.

Might have something to do with fact that Torrent protocol has evolved quite bit after development of ctorrent ended in ~2004. |

| @Rose The latest CTorrent-GUI for OS4 is based on Enhanced CTorrent, its latest version has been released on 2008.

I get over 1 MB/s at times with Transmission, I do wish it was still being updated. µtorrent on my laptop can't match the dl speed of my micro for some reason. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

| However, as I have reported in previous years, cTorrent can #### your ratio in prive torrent trackers, which will ultimately lead in getting you banned. After I had downloaded around 700mbs (via cTorrent/OS4.1), my ratio went to 700pbs, ffs. So, now you have been warned once again. In general, cTorrent is far from reliable e.g. not being able to commincate with peers from most and well known free (and private) trackers. _________________

Why would anyone visit there if they did not want to download something they should really pay for it, you are just a pirate, and anyone logging in there should be shot.
I have not visited that site for ages, not been there since at least ..... yesterday

Does it state any alternative trackers in the listbrowser text? I don't remember but i think i added support for changing that through tooltypes on the icon. Try adding ALTERNATETRACKER= the number of visible tracker number. I think it was something like ALTERNATETRACKER=4. Don't kill me if it doesn't help. _________________ I'm an antique. Turn DHT off from settings. Now part of your transmissions goes straight from user to user without updating on tracker. |

I've tried the ALTERNATETRACKER and it doesn't work either. Same result. Or well, it doesn't say "Failed to connect to tracker", just "Connecting..." and then nothing but updating the E: counter. I tried with the same setting in the shell version as well.
The thing is that I don't think ctorrentGUI even reads the tooltypes from its icon because it doesn't seem to respect the ALTERNATETRACKER nor the SAVEPATH tooltype. Everything always ends up in PROGDIR: and nothing gets doesnloaded. _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft. |

i've had no success with either ctorrent or transmission for at least two years now. transmission 'used' to work, but would frequently crash the system. now neither is capable of getting peers from trackers. at least in my experience so far.
one of the guys behind amiboing.de was working on a new torrent client at some point -- but i don't know where that sits or whether development of it continues or not.

i have a NAS drive from netgear (most manucfactors will do too) which has a torrent function and it supports all the new stuff too like Magnet ..
i control the NAS torrent panel via OWB with a nice gui front end, speed is great and i don't have to think twice about rebooting the Amiga all the time.

Being from the USA, are you concerned the Government is using an agency to track people downloading videos? _________________ Men who have girlies in their avatars are Girliemen! |

Did you also test by opening ports on the router and specifying those ports in the torrent client?
Since you said you have ported some, do they use UPnP to oppen ports and does this work on AmigaOS? Last edited by Hypex on 11-Jun-2013 at 04:01 PM.
