Well, looks promising. Even more interesting would be prices (also for all the other related products they mention on their page) and whether porting of AOS4 would be possible for these ones! |

They must be too expensive or they would have listed the prices _________________ AlexC's free OS4 software collection

| Many of those should run AOS4 SW nicely.
I believe price is north from x1000 price.
hmmm... I saw the price for this somewhere.... Found, it's $3,995.00, according to freescale (?). (same price for all high end QorlQ dev boards) When comparing price & performance it could act as a high end AmigaOnex12000
(cheapest dev boards start from around $550 (low end) and $2000 (mid range) @ freescale. I think servergy's P1022 is the cheapest of all PPC dev boards, only some $199 for dualcore 1ghz board is not too bad... but it's not with AOS4 SW compatible PPC chip.) Well, Denx isn't a motherboard vendor, they're a vendor of development tools, so they expect people to buy single units of these with programmers, software and tons of support. So the price isn't really comparable to consumer products _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Well,
our hardware company could make a deal with them, if they don't want to build board from scratch. However i think A-eon have his own cards to play _________________ retired |

a lot of those look like the Freescale boards, such as the t4240 one.
though i do endorse ComExpress as a modular form factor. _________________ All glory to the Hypnotoad! |

Denx is one of the companies making eval boards for Freescale. There are several companies doing this. Denx port Linux and U-Boot (which came from Denx to begin with) to many more boards than they design, so they are heavily involved when it comes to Freescale stuff _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Very interesting.
Is Varisys involved in some way with Freescale?

I have not spotted them making dev boards to be sold/distributed by Freescale. But they surely should have the latest know how. _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer? |

Denx even used to distribute SAM440ep (labled as eval board). They always had stock but charged way more then a "regular Amiga distributor". The even showed (on request) a running AmigaOS in Munich ("Systems" trade fair) on SAM440ep as far as I can remember.

| Consider the flag waved.
The boards for sale are Freescale Reference Boards which are designed for test & design purposes only and come at a price of 3750 euro each.
TrevorD
EDIT: 3750 plus VAT = ~4500 euro for the bare board (>~US$6000)

It's more or less the standard price for a Freescale evaluation board/system. Anyone can find it out if the they follow the links on Freescale's website. Last edited by Rob on 12-Feb-2013 at 12:07 PM. Last edited by Rob on 12-Feb-2013 at 12:06 PM.
