Hi every one, since January 2013 I habe an SAM460ex. Almost all sofwares which were installed on my A1 work but LodePaint causes a problem: when I launch it the error message "Unabe to set video. SDL error message : failed to create minigl context".

Someone could help me ? minigl/opengl are installed (like my A1...).

Thanks.

Nic

@unimon

Your GFX card (Radeon HD?) probably doesn´t support 3D accelleration (yet). Try install Wazp3D, maybe it will work.

if Wazp3D doesn't work, try SketchBlock and I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised.

@pavlor

Thanks. It works now but ugly... the card is a PCI radeon HD4650 (RV73).

Nic

@klx300r

I've also installed it :) I like to try if softwares which works, which not. I also have installe perfectpaint, tvpaint and personalpaint :).

In my SAM, LoadPaint won't be used anymore.

I think sketchblock will become soon a must have soft.

@unimon

Give lodepaint another try once your graphics card has better drivers. It's a great bit of software.
The "ugliness" is probably due to using software rendered gl/wazp3d. It (wazp3d) is great to have for machines without 3d drivers, but it tends to give pretty bad image quality compared to a proper gl implementation.

Having said this though, I must admit, despite it being a pretty decent package, Lodepaint's presentation leaves a bit to be desired.

edit: actually, I just now remembered that even warp3d itself gives pretty ugly image quality compared to a proper gl implementation. Has been a while since I had a hardware accelerated warp3d machine so I forgot how ugly amiga oses hardware accelerated 3d is. It's possible that wazp3d actually doesnt look any worse.

@fishy_fis

exactly. you are not doing alains work justice. i have had a lot of comparison between warp and wazp3d way ago and in many cases wazp was more acurate.

@wawa

Many Thanks

I remenber that Lodepaint was working with Wazp3D/WinUAE so it may works too with OS4 (but I never tried...)
(Anyway you should better use a real Amiga paint program for 68k with the OS4 JIT)

Delete Wazp3D.cfg and set those settings should help:
Use Renderer: Soft to bitmap
Texture:GL Coloring
Perspective: No (fast)
Use Clear Image: OFF

Compositing should not be used in this case as it is unable to draw a "colored" texture

Alain Thellier - Wazp3D author

Note: if you wanna use Wazp3D to the max with an OS4 machine then try FPSE + gpuw3d plugin or Hurrican

@thellier

i m not even sure where my 68k port of lodepaint even is. i might try to have another go at it one day, but its os4 that is a subject here, and its version of wazp, that is likely more advanced.
