Hey guys
. I was wondering what PPC demos put out for classic amiga ppc work on OS4 now. I have all the demos from Os4 depot (that all work perfectly) what about classic amiga ppc demos? Please list them if you would! I want to show os4 off to my friends!

usually this demo use warpos .. if you have an Amiga One , Sam 440 or Pegasos machine you will have warpos compatibily thru warpos emu ... but this is a wrapper not 100% compatible but 80% of old software look like works on it...

On the Sam 460 and the x1000 there isnt warpos emu the wrapper dont work.

Look for demos that support AHI+RTG and cross your fingers.
There are some demos but not many, normanly they do some hardware baning some where.

There are AGA demos that work also, but they run slow due planarmodes, and often the graphics is distorted due fixed bytes per row hard coded in the demo.

I think you can ignore OCS demos, as they use cooper effects and other crap.
So demos should be newer then 1992.

You'll probably have better luck if your AmigaOS 4 platform is a Classic Amiga, of course - then you have the AGA chipset at your disposal.
Still not sure how many demos will work, but it's more likely, at least!

Its strange situation: demo scene used to take the best of limited chipset resources, that have become even more limiting over time - introducing AHI-RTG and similar OS friendly replacements

he does not understand the motivation of the demo coders. It is about competing with other coders to get the most from a limited exact defined hardware. Using a multicore PC with GHtz, 8 GB RAM and a super-fast brandnew graphiccard is not interesting to demo-coders.

The same is for a PPC based system using AHI and RTG. It is not a exact equal hardware (like the old Amigas or the C64 was)

The problem with PPC based Amigas is that nobody has one, hence no demos.

I thought total number of c64 releases is higher than all the rest of platforms together (including Amiga, Atari, PC...) I should have put more attention to Revision seminars

I have actually been experimenting whit faking plainar on chunky recently, I found it pretty easy, by simply using logical or operation on two images, I can easily produce the same kind of effects

No in the past 15 years at least :) Maybe compared to the other platforms, but not including the PC

my ppc demoscene database website was closed a few years back but i still have all the stuff so i guess i could put it all up again if there is enough interested people.

All ppc intros and demos is in the database with a compability chart and the actual downloads and some even have a youtube link.

It was up from 2004 to 2011, the 2 last years it had very little activity but i didn't close it, it was closed because GuruMeditation was closed down.

other than that, scenes like Pouet might have a few things or maybe all now but i don't know for sure.

It would be nice to have a PPC demoscene website. Why not going official with amigaos.net, hope it will live and it has community web page that could be extended with demo scene section (unless you want to have it as private website)

That would be awesome and exactly what i'm looking for. I've already got all the ones on os4 depot and they work nicely but i'm looking for others. So please put the list up.

Oh and btw I do have a nice 060 aga 1200 i watch demos on with a dual screen 20in rgb monitor (Sony) and a Vizio 22" lcd (indivsionmk2) !

Indeed I am. And I've added OS4-support to a few of my 68k-demos :)

Actually Tundrah/RNO recently compiled a list of 68k and PPC demos that happen to work on MorphOS, and I would assume that most of them would also work on OS4. Will try to find it and put it online somewhere.

Was browsing pouet and all ppc demos are quite old.

With 440, 460 and x1000 around I halfway would expect a democoder or two got the NG hardware.
Or maybe its for the most part productivity/OS oriented programmers that made the upgrade (in addition to normal users).

Britelite gave his answer, so guess im just bumping this thread out of curiosity if anything has changed in that regard.

Most demo coders like the challenge of making the most out of limited resources. If you break free of that with PPC Amiga machine you might as well go all the way and use a typical x86 PC.
