Actually, when trying to capture the serial output on the A1200, it was with Term4.8 under OS3.9.
There are a number of reasons why it might not work, not least of which the baud rate. _________________ Doing stupid things for fun... |

| karlos, i have received an advice to build a minimal null modem cable: Pin 2 Pin 3 Pin 3 Pin 2 Pin 5 Pin 5 (9pol SUB-D) perhaps that would help?

PC-PC is not a straight serial cable. It's what is commonly called null-modem.
PC-modem is a straight cable, it has one male and one female.

| Sorry for resurrecting this old thread but, after not using my A1 for a few days, it's now sitting with a black screen after the "lauching kickstart" progress bar-thingy.
Surely not the CMOS fading again already? (I'm guessing it wouldn't boot at all if that were the case?)
-EDIT- False alarm (sort of) - after about five minutes of black screen, Workbench suddenly appeared. Not ideal behaviour but at least it lives.

Sorry from me too, got my XE back working after renewing a new cpu soldering+cpu+fan and a lot of other work I can't remember/know/explain. Last time used had 4,1 update 3.
The Best goes to the Finnish hard working guy, You know who You are;)
Updating to 6. or parting with this?
Should say wow and got the car for the summer for double wow, hey and my birthday is today but something is missing as I'm using the pc-side?

ive heard about the cases when waiting for network in startup sequence may delay bootup of os4 like that. as not os4 user anymore i dont know the exact solution, bu id look at startup sequence and comment out the network there. it can be started later anyway. Yeah, great to be back, just one more cable to sound and everything should be back in business to update 4-5-6! The new prosessor has a fancy red/blue led glow but is hidden in the black metal case. Maybe I dremel a window at the sides sliding door and put a nice plastic to see it when stumblig across a good one. Keeping 800MhZ could be wise? I had the earlier in 933MhZ for years but the fan was too heavy (changed the module from another XE just to have more powerful fan that was in the used one, stupid me?) and the weight maybe broke it over time when moving the tower when organasing the tables in the Amiga "office" a few times. Also some components were changed so who knows what was the real cause.
For starters it's nice to have it working again. The towers front power-button is not 100% working (press on/off-style) so it's maybe better to switch off, not from the back as it's not really handy to go under the table so I've got this cord extension with a red light/on off switch at the side so I can shut it down when no disk activity with my toe when fed up or going "night-night" ;) Classy?
Then when powering On the front button works after the cord is put to On before but to avoid bad closing if it does only think it's pressed sometimes it's safer like this?
Or then use a program to shut down but in the A500 -times (and still) my friends thought that a gentle "kickdown" to power of without hands and harm to the computer was cool. Non windows style. Kickstart and kickdown.
Any harm to the XE to shut down with this way? (Like plugging the cord from the wall)
or
Should I do it the program way?
Really cool this huge HP monitor with VGA,DVI and HDMI for multi-use and the logitech kb in kb-switch+red glowing mouse. Under all black (including the pc), over all silver including ministereo+speakers(too loud I hear;) etc.
It's like a tivoli-world lighting at night.
Next to these Rolands electric drums offcourse in black/silver and the walls covered in Amiga posters, You get the picture. (Not sending one with a black/silver camera anyways now as explained in a thousand words)
There are just too many cables going behind to make any sence of them fast if needed. I know my Amiga-girls (6months and 3 years) are going to laugh at me when older when everything is wireless like the Nokia-phones charging even now.
I'll fire up the Amigas then (hopefully) and show some not ported retro stuff;)
Hmm, USB-thingie,card reader, how to put the HP-printer+browsers any good today? Goodbye for now. |

The machine is slick, virusfree and , well Amiga;)
Any chance to go YouTube without hassle or wait for a few more weeks?

I hoped for some better One. Any fix?
