I'd like to do likewise, but my searches are coming up empty for the type they tell in that thread.
Please post if you find a supply of any that work. _________________ Moxee AmigaOne X1000 AmigaOne XE G4 I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. |

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as buying the correct model numbers in my experience. I've tried 4 different KVR133X72 off ebay, only one of which worked (pretty expensive affair trying it all!)
On my machine, the sticks need Infineon chips on the board, sadly they can ship with RAM from HP and various other companies, only Infineon works on my A1XE, so ask the seller which chips are on-board the sticks, the same model numbers often have different manufacturers for the chips.
Not a problem for PCs, but for my A1, it will only boot with Infineon chips on a ram stick. |

Yeah I've even heard stories of people ordering RAM for their A1 with specific brand of chips on boards that the eBay seller listed on site only to find that they were sent the wrong stick! And were sent a different brand instead. How hard can it be? You locate a product with the exact specifiations you need and order it on a COMPUTER. A computer is a digital device. No excuses! To err is human.
If humans didn't build computers (or use them perhaps) they would work fine! |

Problem is that manufacturers sell the same sticks under the same product names/model numbers but sometimes use different brand microchips on them, the AmigaOne kicks off and fails over this, most machines wouldn't care.
The A1 is the most fussy motherboard I've ever used, it might work with the KVR133X72 with Infineon XCR7 chips onboard but not with Infineon ZCR7 chips, or Sony XCR7 chips, it's a bastard. I gave up trying to get 1 gig after wasting about £100 on useless sticks that were all listed as compatible. Last edited by danwood on 04-Jul-2012 at 04:10 PM.

Stop it you guys! I ordered some new Infineon chips last night after reading "you can't go wrong". Now you have me wondering if I did go wrong. What's a guy to do?

Oh, sorry.
If it's any consolation when I neded memory I looked up "PC133 ECC reg server ram" (or close too) on eBay and picked up some 1GB Microns. I plugged them in and they were fine. When are yours arriving? |

I am not so sure that they are arriving. I think I got scammed. I have not heard a word from the guy since I ordered them about 5 days ago. I used the Buy Now option and paid using Paypal.
Shouldn't I have heard something by now from him?
He is in the USA so perhaps he went on vacation because of the Holidays this last week. Still, why would someone go on Holidays when they have current offerings on eBay? The guy had all good references.
Should I contact eBay?_________________ Moxee AmigaOne X1000 AmigaOne XE G4 I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. |

I think so. That is a while.

Well unless the guy has stated on his eBay shop he is on vacation it might be an idea to contact them and nudge him along.
I mean when the boot's on the other foot sellers can get grumpy. A friend won some items but needed a few days before he could pay. The seller couldn't wait two days and said he would sell the items to someone else! |

I was hoping to not have to resort to that, but thanks for mentioning it. I have never been in this position before._________________ Moxee AmigaOne X1000 AmigaOne XE G4 I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. |

This is not any mention about being on vacation.
I did send him an eBay message yesterday telling that I had not heard from him and a confirmation would have been nice. Today there is not any response yet.
There was an automatic eBay notice when I completed the transaction on the 3rd of July that my package should arrive on the 9th or 10th of July. That is why I did not worry too much about it for the first couple of days. I started to worry when I remembered that everyone I've ever dealt with on eBay always sent me a confirmation.
This could all turn out to be a worry about nothing if the package does arrive today or tomorrow._________________ Moxee AmigaOne X1000 AmigaOne XE G4 I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. |

| hmmm
so i have now ordered a 1gb kingston stick, we will see when and if it works but after reading more on various amiga sites i must say i am not that confident anymore...
btw, i can't find a single shop in norway who sell 1gb sticks and the pair'd 512 ones are quite steep.

I've lost some confidence too. Even though some say, "You can't go wrong."
I just heard back from the vendor on eBay. He might have taken all last week off.
Quote:
| My apologies. With holidays and everything. It shipped today |
So, another week of waiting. Maybe I'll receive it on the 16th, who knows. Of course from Texas to Washington State should not take a week.
I hope both of our chips work out fine. When we get them, sigh....

When i had A1G4XE i had difficult buying a stick that worked. Noone of the 1gb sticks i tried worked. I asked for refund if it dont work when i bought them as i didnt want to stick with some memories without use :)
But i at least found a 512mb stick. Was totally enough when comparing to the 256 i had before.
Now with x1000 i have 4gb stick (only 2gb in use, os4 limit) and 2gb free mem is like... alot to fill :) |

Hopefully, later this summer I'll be in the same boat as you with my own X1000.
As far as the ram chips I just bought for my XE-G4 I am wondering if I can use them in the X1000 if they don't work in my XE._________________ Moxee AmigaOne X1000 AmigaOne XE G4 I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. |
