| Hello
My Amiga One went into a PC repair centre between December last year and last day of January with AmigaKit's PCI wireless card.My Amiga One was fixed and now runs better than ever and my Wi-fi PCI card in words of the repairman couldn't be reflashed.
This evening I tried to install the Wi-fi card again but I found on slot 4 (counting the AGP one too) that a USB card was in there. So after unscrewing the USB card I cannot put on another slot because its cables were short to put on another slot.
The questions are:
How can I install the PCI Wi-.Fi card on the Amiga One? Do I need to do a reflash? How?
In wich slot is better to install the card?
Does anyone had problems with the same Wi-Fi card from AmigaKit?
I asked before to AmigaKit but they didn't answer me.
Any help really appreciated. _________________ AMIGA 500 1.5 MB ACA500/ACA1232 accelerators AMIGA 500 German CD32 unexpanded Amiga 1200 Tower on AmigaKit since years AMIGA 1300 030/50 Mhz/32 MB WB 3.9 with lots of games&demos AMIGA ONE XE G3 PPC 800 Mhz/1 GB RAM/RADEON 9250 128 MB/SATA CONTROLLER |

Should work egual in any bottommost three pci slot.
If it is amikit wifi card, should work as it is. If I remember correctly, it works without firmware update at least with wep-security.
Of course drivers and software is needed. |

The amigakit wifi card will work as is ussing the prism2 device. Wep encryption is supported out of the box.
I have read for a flash procedure on pcmcia wifi cards on amiga 1200 in order for wpa2 encryption to be supported, perhaps a flash for wpa2 encryption support should be made to such pci cards as well? Someone can confirm this...
Wpa2 is supported by the latest prism2.device however the card should support it. I am not sure if the amigakit pci card supports it.
However with the latest prism2.device on a system same as yours, ussing an amigakit pci wifi card, I have expierenced various crashes until I went back to ethernet.
I also got a question:
An amiga one to a pc repai center? What was the problem?
For my card, I am ussing the pci slot located just before the lower bottom one. Last edited by Morphix on 02-Mar-2013 at 10:57 PM.

Very interesting your answer,so it works as it is.
I have to check my PC Wi-Fi connection to see if it is with WEP security or with WPA2 security. _________________ AMIGA 500 1.5 MB ACA500/ACA1232 accelerators AMIGA 500 German CD32 unexpanded Amiga 1200 Tower on AmigaKit since years AMIGA 1300 030/50 Mhz/32 MB WB 3.9 with lots of games&demos AMIGA ONE XE G3 PPC 800 Mhz/1 GB RAM/RADEON 9250 128 MB/SATA CONTROLLER |

Should I install the prism2.device driver before the card or later?
About your question the Amiga One was ill because the battery container was displaced and the repairman had to do the job of soldering.Apart it was the Wi-Fi card theme. _________________ AMIGA 500 1.5 MB ACA500/ACA1232 accelerators AMIGA 500 German CD32 unexpanded Amiga 1200 Tower on AmigaKit since years AMIGA 1300 030/50 Mhz/32 MB WB 3.9 with lots of games&demos AMIGA ONE XE G3 PPC 800 Mhz/1 GB RAM/RADEON 9250 128 MB/SATA CONTROLLER |

Logical procedure is card first, then software.
As this is Amiga, it really doesnt matter. |

I installed the Wi-Fi card on slot 3 and then 4 from the top of the slots. No luck as the monitor stays switched off.
Why this? What can I do now with this card? _________________ AMIGA 500 1.5 MB ACA500/ACA1232 accelerators AMIGA 500 German CD32 unexpanded Amiga 1200 Tower on AmigaKit since years AMIGA 1300 030/50 Mhz/32 MB WB 3.9 with lots of games&demos AMIGA ONE XE G3 PPC 800 Mhz/1 GB RAM/RADEON 9250 128 MB/SATA CONTROLLER |

I do not think that the monitor being off has to do with the network card, except if you mean that WITHOUT the card on board the system boots ok, is this the case? _________________ Peg1, Peg2, Efika, Amiga 500, Amiga 1230, Amiga 4000PPC, Sam 440EP, AmigaOne XE, MacMini PPC, PowerMac G4, G5 |

Have you got the card working ok under AmigaOS 4 / 4.1 before the service maybe (or at any time point)? _________________ Peg1, Peg2, Efika, Amiga 500, Amiga 1230, Amiga 4000PPC, Sam 440EP, AmigaOne XE, MacMini PPC, PowerMac G4, G5 |

You should maybe check uboot settings.
Stop boot process and type menu.
There is IRQ for all pci-slots. They have to have unique number.
Check that setting is allso level or try change one slot to edge.
Cant help you more, Im not with my SE just now. Peg2 actually.
Someone could help you with find uboot settings, if you cant.
Did you try to flash cards firmware yourself ? Did you success. If flashing fails, it renders card useless, usually. |

I do not have.
Anyway, it is just general pci card and it should work.
As far as I can remember, level/edge setting is nailed years ago. Should work similar with every card.
As A1-SE/XE has plenty of IRQs, it is just same, if card cannot share one or not.
So it should work, as long as your motherboard is ok as well as as pci-card.
AGP slot nearest pci is different story, it is not for universal use.
Rest three are for general use.
Do you have any other pci cards in your Amiga? |
