Hi,

Just loaded up my A1 for the first time in eons. At first it was going in to Uboot settings but I couldn't get it to boot. I tried changing to Linux boot but now I just get as far as a command line prompt.

How do I get back in to Uboot settings?

It's been so long i don`t remember how to boot anything:

boota ?

tried "run linux" which i'm sure is correct?

I've got the original OS4 final cd, how can i try booting from this?

Classic sign that the 3V cell battery needs replacing.

@deakmann

You can type "menu" to get the settings GUI.

Yes boota is the command to boot AmigaOS.

Your "run linux" will oily work if you set up a variable of the name "linux" with a command to boot it inside.

But go to the menu, locate the boot options and set it to Amiga Multiboot. Then select the controller and CDROM as the first boot source. Make sure your HD is the second source so it can boot it. Or set it later. This will allow it to boot CD if needed and otherwise boot the HD.

You could also reset to factory settings from menu if that was needed.

@all

ok, found a new battery in my box of bits, but now i get nothing at all when i turn the machine on :(

Struggled to get the battery out so hope i haven't damaged anything. I've tried the original battery again but nothing with that either. I realise now that just pushing down on one side of the battery pops it out (unless this is a sign it's not pushed in far enough?).

Any hope ?

Pushing the battery straight down into the holder, should just snap into place. Your old battery could be under voltage as well, once the battery goes under 3V, the A1 may not boot. You need to buy a fresh new one to make sure.
