Can anyone comment on how this may affect the partnership with A-Eon?

Not known. Official product line of Varisys is the same, but it never included Nemo board. _________________ OS 3.x AROS and MOS supporter, fi di good, nothing fi di unprofessionalism. Learn it harder way! SinclairQL and WII U lover :D YT http://www.youtube.com/user/rasvoja |

| Had brief contact with Trevor; no change in relationship is expected but discussions are ongoing.

Should mean the ability for larger capacity manufacturing but the Amiga market cannot seem to support anything other than small scale hobby volumes so this doesn't seem to benefit us. The minimum order quantity for each X1000 batch may increase if A-EON are unlucky _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." | Well at least it wasn't DCE, I just hope this acquisition wont mess with any of A-Eon's future plans.

A quote from Ultras corporate website:
Quote:
How we are organised
Ultra's businesses have a high degree of operational autonomy so that they provide exceptionally agile and responsive support to customers and partners normally associated with a smaller business. These benefits of customer focus and agility are augmented by the access to wider and complementary technologies and expertise that lie elsewhere in the Group or with partners, and by Ultra's strong financial position. |
The agility part basically reads to me as them having the ability to deal with small run custom items with ease.
Fingers crossed, huh?_________________ Sven Harvey Amiga Mart in Micro Mart, Geekology 4M@, and other places A1000, A2000, A1500 A500, CDTV, A500+, A600, A4000, A1200, CD32, AT A1200HD, A1-XE |

| I've read that before Varysis, Paul Gentle has worked for Ultra Electronics, in an interview made by Obligement, the french online magazine.

A-EON has issued a press release on the matter. from their facebook page:
Quote:
| Following the news that Varisys, our hardware partners and designers of the Nemo motherboard, had been acquired by Ultra Electronics, we have been in close communication with regards current and ongoing development projects. Adam Barnes, Technical Director commented: "We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with A-EON and the Amiga community. We always hoped to develop IP for embedded applications through the A-EON projects, and that has not changed one bit." Paul Gentle, General Manager added: "Adam and I are staying with the business, and are excited by the future prospects and opportunities that will arise." A-EON Technology Director Matthew Leaman commented, "We wish to congratulate Varisys on their acquisition by Ultra Electronics and look forward to strengthening our close working relationship". |
