Sam460 wifi in PCI-E??

From a post by M3X of Acube on Amigans post #4, it would appear that it is now possible to use PCI-E WiFi cards in Sam460.

Is this true? I thought that so far only sound cards were use able in the slot.

Does anyone know what cards are compatible with the system and drivers?

Would really love to use a card in the slot rather than have to get a universal WiFi adaptor to get my Sam on the net.

@Amiboy

Anyone know if this (above) is correct?

@Amiboy

M3X is the first to know, when it comes to ACube stuff,
He does not say the drivers for the WIFI card is working, only that PCIe slot is working.

@Amiboy

@Amiboy

Keep an eye on this thread
http://www.amigans.net/modules/xforum/viewtopic.php?topic_id=5966&forum=4
I wonder if imagodespira has remembered that the SAM460ex pciex1 slot
has to be enabled by motherboard jumper setting and Uboot configuaration.
All the pciex1 cards that I have plugged in show up in Ranger even if there was no AmigaOS driver. even a defective bridge card.

@NutsAboutAmiga

I read it as more that imagodespira is saying that he has problems in his X1000 with a PCI-e wifi card but it will work.

He (imagodespira) then goes on to say he wishes Acube would unlock the PCI-E slot for 'these kinds of cards' i.e. (to me) PCI-E Wifi cards in Sam460.

m3x responds with the fact that PCI-E slot is not locked with OS4.q kernel, but then asks if he (imagodespira) has any particular problem with such card in PCI-E slot.

This to me would imply that wifi card should work in the slot, but I have heard otherwise and that so far only sound cards will work.

Hopefully m3x sees this thread and clarifies things.

Hi,

I have removed the Jumper because of testing a Sound Card, and it works well in the PCI-e 1x Slot.

But more than a Sound Card (onboard works great) i would Need a WLAN Card.

So i purchased an ABIT WPL-01 Card. But it does not work on Sam460, not visible in Ranger or in the uboot (typing "pci 2" in uboot console to see the devices?)

After all Goos (the coder of our amiboing.de Projects) got his X1000 last week, so we just tried to plugin the same WLAN Card there, we only got an small GR on Start of the wireless Manager, but if we click ignore the Card works well and fast with AmigaOS.

So i think on the Driver side it is supported, but not in Sam460 uboot? Maybe just Sound Cards? I tried to contact acube via Facebook but not Response yet, maybe next days...

Neil Cafferkey, posted an updated Driver and also a debug Driver on amigans that we can test if the GrimReaper Comes or the Problem is fixed, we can try it next days.

conclusion: the Driver is a big step and i am looking forward to get a pci-e 1x Card to work on sam460, it would be great and a big win for the System because of not to much Slots there (and using pci for sata Card).

Best regards,
imagodespira

@imagodespira

Try contacting ACube true E-mail, facebook is not yet the official way to contact companies, companies generally do not want handle support true facebook, they normally want it in support system, developers wont it bugizzila or another tracking system.

@imagodespira

If you have a serial debug cable hooked up to another computer you chould check the Uboot debug output .
The first line after the PCIE0 show the id of the card in the pciex1 slot.
In my example it is a Envy 24 sound card.(1412 1724)
