| I feel I could not recall all the reasons. Perhaps we could collect them here. So, why is AOS4 not (yet) on the x86? _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer? |

because ppc at the time had more inroads into amiga than x86 did. hyperion then made the decision to use ppc. as a result we are stuck with ppc as they feel it would be pointless to redo aos4 for x86 seeing how few aos systems are being sold. if someone payed for the port they might reconsider but i doubt it.
basically hyperion publicly says no. _________________ Win•dows: n. A thirty-two bit extension and graphical shell to a sixteen-bit patch to an eight-bit operating system originally coded for a four-bit microprocessor which was written by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition. |

For a moment I thought someone had posted on an old thread or I have been sent back to 2003 - as it was, it was JAXES post (Just Another X Eighty Six). _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |
