Hi all,

We are planning a trip to Wales this summer, and were wondering where we should go to in Wales and what places to see.

So if there is someone familiar with Wales.... I'd welcome some tips for our trip

Thanks,

Martin

@Metalheart

It depends on what part/s of Wales you intend to visit, what sort of activities interest you and whether you have children to keep entertained.

It's worth noting that summer in Wales does not guarantee warm sunny weather so it's always good to plan an alternative indoor activity in case it rains.

@Rob

Nah, I'm from holland and been to scotland so I'm used to crappy summers

I like siteseeing, mostly nature, castles and that kind of stuff.
I'm going together with my girl and our dog.
We're taking the train from france via the channel tunnel.

Probably getting a cabin/lodge/camper and taking daytrips from there.

So far I'd like to visit snowdon mountain.

@Metalheart

The Festinigiog Railway is not to far from Snowdon.

I'm not particularly familiar with North Wales but there are a number of castles in the region.

If you visit South Wales I'd recommend visiting Blaenavon. It has one of the oldest preserved ironworks in the world and there is a also Big Pit colliery, Blaenavon and Pontypool Railway Museum and a number of walks and other places to visit. The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal is not far either.

St Fagan's is also another place to visit with many different things to do and see. There are a lot of building from across the country that have been moved there and reconstructed, including a row of houses decorated and furnished as they would have been across different generations from 1805 to 1985.
