| Odd afternoon... but just confirmed the reason why It's getting more and more difficult for me to buy new clothes these days...
A wee visit to the Dentist (took six valium to pluck up the courage for that one), saw me being sent across the road to the hospital to get an X-Ray done of my teeth...
Arrived In a jam packed X-Ray department only to discover the Teletubbies were all in for X-Rays too... only myself and one other guy were at around the 10 stone max mark, while the other 40 or 50 were all at least 16 stone going up to what must've been around the 35 to 40 stone mark...
Never seen such a mass of human blubber gathered in the one place before, kept expecting Greenpeace to rush in anytime and try to push them all back out to sea to save them...
Thankfully the floor was solid concrete but the chairs didn't fare too well, the creaking and grating of metal legs straining under the immense weight was a bit disconcerting though and the heat generated from this mass of humanity made it feel like I was stuck in a sauna with a pungent rank odour of various sweat mixing together in the air...
There was standing room only as quite a number of the larger tubbies actually took up two seats (one for each ginormous bum cheek)...
Not sure if I found this amusing or sad, especially watching some of them trying to stand up from their seats when their name was called...
But it did confirm that's the reason why it's difficult for skinny folk for me to buy new clothes easily these days, clothing manufactures are obviously only really catering to the fatties these days as they're obviously the bigger market... it's a wonder there isn't a shortage of clothing materials if that's the shape of most people today...
PS: There must've been a lot of plumbers there too today as quite a number of them were speaking Polish...
PPS: One positive note made today, I only saw one person amongst that lot using a tablet/ mobile thingy and only two gibbering or texting on mobile phones... there still hope left yet... _________________

You visited a hospital in the American Mid-west today? Oh, if I'd known I'd have had you bring me back some corn husks so I can make tamales. Can't seem to find the silly things here in France._________________ ¤¤ Official Hyperion Zealot ¤¤

I do a lot of walking. I dont drive so rely on my legs to get around, but also enjoy the exercise. I must admit though that on my travels I too notice that more and more people seem to be somewhat on the unhealthy size. In some ways its sad to see, but on the other hand the frequency I see these people guzzling large bottles of softdrink, or picking up a quick family sized meal deal from McDonalds or KFC, etc. makes it not too surprising. Even in supermarkets I notice that these sorts of people tend to have nothing but masses of junk food (only greens are gummy bears), and sugary drinks overflowing their trolleys.
Not to say I have a problem with people who have a bit of extra weight on. For some its a medical or physiology thing, but the vast majority are just a reflection of modern times. Quick, lazy meals that also provide a quick buzz. Even worse than the laziness on display is the attitude more and more people have to fix things for themselves. Not by hard work or exercise, but by a quick bit of lypro suction or similar.
Not that Im exactly a rake myself. My "normal"/healthy weight is about 85-90kgs, but it has been as high as 100kgs or so. Beyond my regular routines Im not exactly the most motivated person around, but even I manage to find the motivation (vanity?) to do something about it at latest once I hit 10 or so kgs above my normal weight.
So to make a long story short, yep, Ive noticed this epidemic too and it's a bit worrying. I just hope the next few generations will become more aware based on what the current generations are doing.

Nah... sadly this was here in Scotland... I was actually thinking to myself while sitting there... gawd a lot of these people look exactly like the huge people that are on every week in that TV program "Pawn Stars" set in a pawn shop in Las Vegas...
Good job they invented widescreen TV as at least they can usually squeeze two of the stars onto the screen at the same time...
PS: If you know any country that's full of skinny folk like me, could you let me know as I'm fed up going on an Indiana Jones adventure everytime I want to buy some new clothes... _________________

Wow... you must be my long lost twin...
Thank gawd I aint the only person in the world who doesn't drive, it's the looks you get from people that ask you "what car do you drive" and you reply "I don't"... they look at you as if you've got two heads or something...
It's true though all over the modern world "obesity" is a faster growing health problem than cancer or illegal drugs and if it continues could cripple health services... _________________

| LOL!
have you considered the thin people in s.e. asia..? no not the malaysians, the real thin people, filipinos, thais cambodians, laos.
I myself have a healthy weight of 85 and am currently 98 - im doing something about it....... eating better again, and will start going to the gym soon (still swim once or twice a week in a squad)
once upon a time in australia until electricity came about, whale oil was burnt in lamps for light. maybe once these fatties die of coronaries, they could donate their blubber to lessen 'the greenhouse effect' that they adamantly believe in... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Btd6L31ZYg&playnext=1&list=PLF56CAE0D17724325

Why am I deliberately fattened up for the slaughterhouse to make me more appealing to the buyer in the event I stop producing milk and yet these people who clearly have failed their main purpose in some way due to them being in a hospital are released back into the wild?
Surely we could work out some kind of deal? Need burger, eat that fat guy Angus, leave the bovine Angus in peace. Since the meat you'll be eating is closer genetically to you than a cow, there is far less risk of transferring disease to other species.
Leave me and my sisters to chew the cud in peace. _________________ "Anyone with a modicum of reasonableness may realize that it is like comparing the ride in the world to descend the stairs to catch the milk in the house."
