| WTF... Now it's allegations against another childhood hero Rolf Harris being arrested in the ongoing Jimmy Saville child abuse investigation...
Rolf Harris Arrested In Jimmy Saville Sex Abuse Investigation...
Of course it's only "allegations" made in of all things "The Sun" (hardly a bastion of fact and decency itself) but the arrest is real enough...
Gawd... all those year as a kid of sitting there quite innocently with our parents being entertained by these guys and it looks like most of them were a bunch of dirty old pervs...
Makes you wonder if everyone famous is nothing more that child abusing perverts whom used their celebrity status as nothing more than a cover for having sex with under age kids...
Gawd, Hope the don't tell me next that the two best Doctor Who's ever Jon Pertwee & Tom Baker were sticking their sonic screwdriver where they shouldn't...

Does make you wonder where it will end. The thing is these things get alleged and it ruins lives. Regardless of innocence or not. :(
Edit
Actually I should point out that I am NOT defending people that do this. But I am against rags like the Sun sensationalising these things before there has been a proper investigation done. Or even been to court. It should be allowed to run its course and innocence or guilt proven before been news. Regardless of the crime or the person. | I really hope the allegations against Rolf aren't true, as I'm quite fond of him, not because of his (mostly lousy) songs, but his good work on things like Animal hospital, his seemingly good Aussie nature, and of course the fact that he was an Amiga fan, which he relied on for Rolf's cartoon club! _________________ SEX SUX

From what I read on the BBC and other more "respectable" news sources, he's not one of the ones being directly linked to JS, so this could be like DLT, 1970's male chauvinistic fondling of breasts. Rolf certainly is a hands on guy, does a lot of personal contact with people.
And the fact the media have known since November and have only decided to publish now the Sun have done so would indicate that firstly, the Sun are dicks, and secondly that the media didn't see the necessity in ruining yet another persons reputation unnecessarily. This would indicate the charges aren't of the serious kind...
Of course this might all be related to that time he sexuality molested a kangaroo after tying it down for sport. Last edited by SpaceDruid on 19-Apr-2013 at 05:57 PM.

I thought it was common knowledge that he did "two little boys" back in the '70s...
/me ducks |
That's just a vicious rumour started by the SUN (probably)...
I blame the three day weeks and power cuts of the 70's meself, lots of strange things happened during the blackouts (I've got the mental scars to prove it)...
I can honestly say of the three famous people I knew during the 70's in my childhood... Ian Cuthbertson, Richard O'Brian & Gyles Brandreth... not one of em laid a finger on me (but then I was a quite ugly child)... _________________

I always recall when I first met Gyles Brandreth and Richard O'Brien around 1974/ 75 (I was only about 7 or 8 at the time). My oldest sister Mary brought them with her one Hogmany when she was back in Glasgow appearing in a play at the Citizens Theatre...
We were living in Castlemilk at the time, a giant newly built housing slum on the south side of Glasgow where we had moved to from the traditional but sturdier built slums of the Gorbals. I recall they all all arrived in two taxis after the show some of them had been appearing in at the Citizens Theatre and some were still dressed in costume (wigs & dresses and that was the guys) as my sister wanted to visit us to see in the bells...
There were about 7 or 8 of them but I don't recall whom most of them actually were, except for Gyles and Richard. Richard was pissed as a fart and simply collapsed onto the couch singing some songs from Jesus Christ Superstar (which II'd never heard of at the time) and Mary (my sister) introduced Gyles and the others to my mum and dad...
I always remember my maw turning to Mary and saying "Mary ah cannae understaun a wurd that big skiiny yins sayin, he talks awfay poofy like, he no wan o rem poofs is he" (she didn't mince her words did me auld maw), to which Gyles whom she'd just said this in front of replied "my beautiful little dear lady, I may talk posh but rest assured I only like the ladies" to which my Maw replied "ack well that's awe right ren, dae ye fancy a wee cuppa ren son", then she paused and said "Oh aye, an keep yer hawbs aff ma daughter"...
After seeing in the bells (and quite a few drinks) they picked Richard O'Brian up of the floor (he'd slipped of the couch) but not before me and my other two sisters had been treated to some pretty amazing stories by Gyles of life in London and all the famous people they knew and to be honest to some poor kid from Glasgow the fantasy and bizarre lifestyle they all led...
As they all said they all headed out the front door into taxis that were waiting, said their thanks you's for the hospitality and their goodbyes, I remember my Maw calling out as they headed down the path "next time ye come an visit dinnae wear them posh clathes cos yer maist likely tae get a dooin if anybody sees ye... yer lucky it's dark... faither, shut that front door noo it's bloody freezin"...
I did meet them on a number of other occasions when they did come up to Glasgow mainly on theatre work and they always treated me and my other sisters to some wonderful tales, thankfully though they never wore dresses or wigs again...
PS: Richard O'Brien always appeared drunk but I found out years later that it wasn't just booze he was high on... _________________
