| Sony doesn't seem to have put a foot wrong in its media war against the XBox One or 'XBone' as its being called:
1) The PS4 is cheaper by 20% than the XBone. 2) You can actually own games, sell them on and buy them second hand. 3) The system is region free. 4) Its about the same size as a PS3 slim and as quiet if not quieter. 5) It looks as cool as a black box can be as opposed to the XBone which is a VHS box. 6) Did I say it was 20% cheaper? Yes 20%!!! £75 to us Brits!!
So are you gonna buy one? _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

Check out the E3 PS4 event HERE
..oh yeah, and Sony are making a big deal out of self-publishing too, helping out the indie developers!
Quote:
| Self-publishing on the PlayStation 4 is going to be a huge deal for smaller developers, and the language Sony was employing - “richness”, “breadth”, “variety” - suggests that the company is well aware of that, and will continue to actively court them. |

2) Appears to be the same as the Xbone. 3rd party publishers can establish their own rules
7) Multiplayer head to head gaming is no longer free. Users will need Playstation Plus. This is a change from the PS3. Last edited by BrianK on 12-Jun-2013 at 01:40 PM.

| I'm very tempted to buy a PS4 on day one here in Italy, as long as there will be a Killer App. Even if I yet have to play some curr gen PS3 games, My SmartTV has a couple of HDMI inputs still free ;)
So Why not have both of them?

It's not the same. Allowing the likes of EA to set the rules is not the same. In fact, it's a total cop out for Microsoft to give publishers that option and then shrug and say "not my fault" when they use it. Promising that Microsoft Games Studio games won't be restricted shows just how cowardly and underhand their approach is.
There are other differences. In Microsoft's words:
"There are two requirements: you can only give them to people who have been on your friends list for at least 30 days and each game can only be given once."
If I own a game, I decide who I give it to. None of this 30 day rubbish.
Let's say I give it my friend - who owns it then? I don't own the game because I've given it to my friend. They don't own it because they can't give it to their friend. So who really owns it? Microsoft, that's who, because they're the only ones who decide who is allowed to play it.
I'd also need to connect to the net every 24 hours to verify I still own it. What other possession am I forced to continually justify ownership of? Should I wonder if and when Microsoft will decide to stop supporting my console and render my game useless? Sinclair and Software Projects may not exist any more, but I own a1983 copy of Manic Miner and I can play it on my ZX Spectrum any time I want.
There are many cases of people being thrown off PSN or XBL. How confident are we that people aren't going to be thrown off XBL and their £430 console and their entire game collection effectively being bricked?
This isn't ownership, it's glorified renting.
