@Rob

I switched to Asl file requesters. Super easy. Hardly worth all the fuss.

Thanks for that, look forward to seeing how it looks.

Hope I haven't come across as whining pain in the bum.

@all

All I was trying to say is that the OS provides good looking built in controls to handle most of your basic building block needs, which leaves you more time to concentrate on using your talent to build up the rest of your application.

I'm not trying to stifle anyone's desire to build for AmigaOS, it needs all the helping can get and the more developers the better.

Actually, you've motivated me to learn Reaction programming. Does anybody know of any good tutorials or sample C programs? My searches are taking me in circles. Examples of different types of gadgets like buttons, checks, sliders, list boxes, etc. would be good. I'm going to need that real soon, like yesterday. I'm working on floppy configuration and it has all that.

Ok i see he's a developer so apologies for that. But this doesnt excuse the guy for talking that way to another dev who is trying to help! And people wonder why there are no devs in amiga land?

What's wrong with what he said, really? I would not be offended if he said that to me. He did not say the developer is stupid. He said the developer had an "insanely stupid idea" what's wrong with that? Einstein had some insanely stupid ideas too.. I also have insanely stupid ideas, sometimse I recognize them by myself, sometimes i'm glad others point me to the right.

Maybe he should not have said "ugly as ****" but well, I still don't know if he meant ***k or ***t if I was the latter, I see the same picture in my brain when I hear the word poo or ****. It's like saying red or rouge two different sounds to communicate some idea to a fellow being. And he is entitled to his opinion, beauty lies in teh eye of the beholder right?

Yes, I had a tough time learning all about the Reaction listboxes and disk listers etc when I wrote my UAECONFIG program for OS4 back many years ago.
The OS4 SDK comes with a bunch of sample Reaction source files...that is what I used to learn. Also, for specific questions just go to OS4coding.net and ask. People there are very helpful.
OS4Depot has a number of programs with Reaction interface sources...such as Basilisk2 for example.

I see that. Just don't make the program look entirely like Windows. Oh BTW I suggest you upgrade to Gadtools. Right now it looks like a modern OS1.3 interface.

I wanted to post a screen capture of the same thing, but using Reaction. (The little dots scattered around is something going on with my display. I don't know what it is.)

Looks better, maybe til final release it just need some refining

- An iconify gadget
- Some small icons for each option listed ala WinUAE ?
- Various and eventual, for example did you already support the keyboard for selecting items in your GUI and so on ?

Love the classic font.

One more thing, that menu panel on left, Perhaps highlight the main options so they stand out. And, could they be made part of a folding tree? That's how those things are usually represented.
